Moon Lover

Dear moon, my favorite lover,
Why do you stop shining when the sun comes up?
Where do you go when the stars drown in the morning light?
Why do you hide behind the horizon where I cannot see you, cannot love you
Oh, moon
What do you fear?
The ocean cannot touch you, you will not drown
The islands miss your smile in the daytime
And I fantasize when I might see you again, little moon
My favorite lover
I try to hold you but you slip between my fingers like milk
I reach up to the heavens, hoping to catch a glimpse of you
But you sneak out
Farther and farther away you go
And I fear
One day, you will not come back at all

Finally. A real poem
