From Kit to Warrior Part 17

Sorry, this is so late! pick your excuse:

A) My cat walked across the keyboard and did something weird to my computer

B) I got stuck

C) I didn't have enough time to finish writing

also sorry that nothing's really happening but I need ideas for the plot

Right now I'm writing impromptu with not much of an idea of what the storyline's gonna be

I also came home today with like a million tiny glass shards in my hair from Stained Glass class at Gateways so I had to take a shower

I also get distracted easily

like really easily

Well here's the next chapter!

Honeypaw's Pov

"That was great!"

Honeypaw glanced up at the silver she-cat, eyes shining with pride

"Thanks!"

Silverleaf let out a small purr. She'd been teaching Honeypaw how to use her small size as an advantage, and Honeypaw was great at it.

"Now, battle me one more time,"

Honeypaw nodded and took up a battle stance on the other side of the clearing. In the corner of her eye, she could see Sparrowpaw dodging Acornfur, and Robinfeather demonstrating a move to Cloverpaw. Her eyes flicked back to Silverleaf, who had crouched down opposite from her, ready to pounce. Honeypaw scanned her body for any sign of attack

There.

Silverleaf tensed a second before leaping at the apprentice. But Honeypaw darted out of the way, raking her paw across the warrior's side, and spun around to face her opponent. Silverleaf landed nimbly and slashed at Honypaw again, faking a right, then swiping her feet out from under her.

With an oof, Honeypaw stumbled and Silverleaf pressed her against the forest floor with one paw. "I win," She said, lifting her paw.

Honeypaw sighed and picked herself up.

"Do you want to learn another move?"

Her ear pricked up, curious, "sure!"

Silverleaf nodded, amused, "Watch me."

Honeypaw stared intently at the silver tabby as she faced an invisible opponent. Silverleaf jabbed one paw above her "opponent's" head and swiped down low right after.

She turned and explained, "Fake a swipe to their head, then when they're distracted by your blow, you can sweep them off their feet, try it on me"

Honeypaw nodded and shifted her position so she was directly in front of Silverleaf. Frowning in concentration,  she took a step forward and threw one paw at Silverleaf's head, swiping her other paw to her legs.

Silverleaf stumbled a step and caught herself. "that was good for a first try. Next time put more force into your second blow."

Honeypaw nodded and tried again. This time succeeding in knocking Silverleaf over. She cheered as the silver tabby picked herself up. "I think you're ready!" Silverleaf exclaimed, and she gestured at the approaching figures of Robinfeather, Acornfur, Sparrowpaw, and Cloverpaw.

"Ready to battle?" Acornfur asked. "Of course!" Honeypaw mewed excitedly. Cloverpaw was bouncing around her mentor talking about everything she'd learned. Robinfeather was giving a quick lecture about the battle to Sparrowpaw, who could hardly sit still. "Just remember what you learned." Acornfur told her, "You'll be great" Honeypaw nodded in thanks and headed towards the clearing with her siblings.
