Soooooooo, here's another chapter. enjoy! ;-;
Honeypaw's Pov
Honeypaw grinned in satisfaction at all the prey they had caught. two pigeons, three mice, one shrew, and a rabbit. And I caught two of the mice. She thought proudly. "Come on Honeypaw," Silverleaf called, "we're going back to camp."
Before she could answer, they heard a yowl in the distance. Acornfur dropped the pigeon he was carrying. "What's going on?" Another yowl and this time snarls accompanied it. "Let's go find out!" Robinfeather raced in the direction of the noise. Silverleaf kicked dirt over their catches and ran after him, with Acornfur and Honeypaw close behind.
It's coming from the Windclan border! Honeypaw realized. As they burst free of the forest they found the source of the shouts. Cloudleaf and a Windclan patrol were engaged in battle, as Honeypaw watched, Cloudleaf ducked a swipe from the black cat in the lead, then kicked the one who was lunging at her and jumped back, doing pretty well for a cat who wasn't trained for battle. She had three scratches that stained red against her light gray-and-white pelt as she drew back, her expression tight with pain and regret.
Silverleaf screeched a battle cry as she charged the brown she-cat whose eyes widened in surprise at the reinforcements. The others followed her lead as Honeypaw dashed to Cloudleaf. "Are you okay? What happened?" She asked the medicine cat. Cloudleaf winced as she watched the ongoing battle, "I'm fine, this patrol decided to attack me for no reason."
Honeypaw scanned the battlefield, Acornfur was driving the black cat away, and Silverleaf had taken on the grey tabby with Robinfeather, the brown cat was nowhere to be found, most likely ran away. However, one warrior caught Honeypaw's eye. In the back sat a white cat with the most startling orange eyes, like flames in the sun. The cat wasn't attacking, nor was she fleeing. Instead, she gazed down at the battle, eyes darting from warrior to warrior.
A screech shook Honeypaw out of her thoughts and she turned to see that the black cat had broken free of Acornfur and was racing towards them, his lips drawn back in a snarl. Cloudleaf dashed to one side and Honeypaw ducked to the other, slashing at him as she rolled away, leaving a bleeding gash on his side. But he paid no attention to her and instead faced Cloudleaf, who had dropped into a defensive crouch. No! don't you DARE attack our medicine cat! Honeypaw leaped again, slashing her claws across his back again and again to no avail. The black cat lunged at Cloudleaf and swiped his claws along her cheek, then dropped into a roll and bit down on her hind leg. Cloudleaf grimaced in pain and attempted to shake him off.
Honeypaw charged but before she could reach them, a white blur intercepted her. It's the warrior from before! the one who was watching the battle! Honeypaw thought. She opened her mouth to ask her what that was about, but the warrior had already moved to Cloudleaf. Honeypaw felt fear rising in her throat as she yowled, "Stop! Don't attack her!" But the warrior wasn't aiming for Cloudleaf, she had dragged her clanmate off the medicine cat. Honeypaw stopped in confusion. But why would she help us? And betray her own clan? The black cat spit tufts of fur out of his mouth and glared at his clanmate. "We've been over this Iceclaw! these are our orders!"
Iceclaw stared him down, "orders or not, it's not right to attack a medicine cat, especially one that hasn't done anything wrong." Silverleaf, Acornfur, and Robinfeather came up beside me. "We drove off the rest of your warriors, do we have to do it to you too?" Acornfur hissed. Iceclaw shook her head and stepped in between the black cat and the Thunderclan warriors. "It was wrong to attack and we will leave now." She said calmly. Her clanmate growled at her, "you're giving up? we have to teach these trespassers a lesson!" Iceclaw glared at him, "Shadefur, enough, we have no proof it was them" She turned back to the Thunderclan patrol and dipped her head, "apologies for my clanmates behavior, we will leave you now." She turned and shove Shadefur up the and over the hill, ignoring his protests.
Once they left, Honeypaw glanced at the patrol. They all seemed relatively unhurt, Silverleaf had a scratch on her side and a nick on her ear, Acornfur seemed to have twisted his left paw, and Robinfeather had a couple of gashes on his back. Cloudleaf studied them, concern showing in her blue eyes, "Come on, I can help you back at camp," She started off, limping slightly because of the wound on her hind leg. Silverleaf ran to catch up with her and Honeypaw followed.
Robinfeather walked beside her, "Are you hurt?" he asked. "No, Shadefur seemed only focused on Cloudleaf." Robinfeather nodded, his eyes clouding with confusion. "No one has dared attack a medicine cat since..." He trailed off, and Honeypaw understood why. Medicine cats weren't bound by clan rivalries, and to attack one was like attacking Starclan themselves. Acornfur limped up behind them and the two senior warriors started discussing the battle in low voices.
Honeypaw sensed she wasn't welcome to join in and raced ahead to Cloudleaf and Silverleaf, catching a bit of their conversation, "-but Onestar had never-" Silverleaf broke off when she spotted Honeypaw. Cloudleaf smiled wearily at her, "The apprentice can know." Silverleaf glanced at her, "are you sure?" Cloudleaf nodded and turned to Honeypaw who was waiting in anticipation, "When I met the patrol, they said something about orders, which could only come from Onestar himself. But he has never ordered a direct attack on a medicine cat before. Something's going on." Silverleaf flicked her tail in agreement and turned to the entrance of camp that was now in view.
"Let's go tell Bramblestar."
I know its sucky, I'm bad at writing battle scenes. And creating suspense.
