Mr. Schuester led his teen children down the path to their home in an orderly line, his son and oldest daughter in front and the two younger girls chattering in the back. Brittany, the youngest of them all, just 16, loudly gossiped so that the whole family could hear. "I heard that a gentleman moved into the McKinley estate at last. Not only that, but a rich gentleman. Even richer than Lord Tubbington!"
Beside her, Brittany's sister Tina huffed. "That doesn't mean anything."
Brittany blinked in slight confusion. "It's true that he has gambling debts, but Lord Tubbington is the wealthiest cat I've ever met."
"Girls, settle down. It's not like this gentleman moving in changes things for us, so there is no point in arguing about him," Mr. Schuester smiled, looking over his shoulder. At this statement, Tina laughed.
"Brit thinks the gentleman is going to want to marry one of us."
Behind Mr. Schuester, Kurt and Rachel stayed quiet, though Kurt looked sarcastic and Rachel had a determined glimmer in her eye. Their father was amused. "Marry one of you? How can you say that when you haven't even met him?"
Brittany spoke. "I know his name is Mr. Hudson and that he's really rich, but I will get to know him better when you call on him."
"Dear, silly girl, I will not damage this family's dignity by going to sell my daughters to a possibly very disagreeable man. If he wishes to marry one of my daughters, he will call on us and I very well may let him meet all of you, if he's a decent sort of man."
