Brittany stayed quiet, thinking about what makes rocks glittery sometimes and shiny other times until the group made it back to the house. Brittany and Tina went to their respective rooms, and Rachel and Kurt retreated to the music room to practice singing and playing the piano forte. The two sang a powerful duet, then sat silently beside each other on the piano bench. "Rachel," Kurt sighed contemplatively as his sister looked up from her sheet music, "I hate to admit it, but you have the most talent and star power of all of us."
Rachel glowed confidently. "Thank you. I knew you would say it one day."
"Well, both of us know I will never love whoever I marry," the boy continued, watching his sister nod sadly in recognition.
Rachel shuffled her music. "What are you saying, Kurt?"
"I'm saying that one of us will have to marry very well for our  family to continue holding the status and lifestyle we have today, and that task will likely fall on you, because you are talented and beautiful."
These compliments meant nothing to either of the siblings at this moment. "You're saying that I should marry Mr. Hudson for his money? But father was right, we don't know him and I don't want to marry him unless I love him!"
Kurt's soft hand rested on Rachel's shoulder to comfort her. "Hopefully you won't have to. Anyways, you're not getting married tomorrow, you might not even end up with this gentleman, in fact, you probably won't, but I wanted to tell you what the world expects from you."
As she played a soft melody, Rachel watched her fingers on the keys. "What do you expect from me?"
"I love you, you're my best friend," Kurt smiled, "I want you to be happy."
Rachel smiled back. "So if I move to London and win the lead in every play, you would be fine with that being my life?"
"No," Kurt tilted his head. Rachel looked shocked and hurt until Kurt sang, "some of those leads are mine." The two laughed cheerfully and, when they finished, Kurt harmonized with Rachel's melody on the piano forte and sighed. "You've never judged me for who I am, even though if the rest of the world knew, I would be killed. What kind of brother would I be if I didn't accept you and believe in your dreams."
"The average sort of brother, I understand," Rachel and Kurt's arms crossed as the harmony and melody parts closed in on each other, "I'm so glad that you aren't average, Kurt."
"So am I," the boy nodded, "even if it ruins me."
