6 Years After Priamfaya.
I feel like everything moves in slow motion as I observe Kane walking into the Fighting Pit with the other three guilty combatants, one the winning champion of the last round. Stood on Octavia's right as Indra occupies her left, I remain at attention beside her throne. Although my eyes follow Kane's every move as he enters the arena. My heart beating anxiously, I can't help but wonder if this is what those in charge on the Ark felt like when they would float one of their own.

Peering down to Octavia I try to sift my way through her stony gaze, searching for a hint of apprehension or unease. Yet, I see nothing. Forehead decorated in blood, the bunkers reigning Red Queen stares down at the four combatants with no emotion whatsoever. This has been a leading pattern over the past years as I watched her slip further and further under her thickened skin she's grown to lead us. I've tried to keep her above water and sometimes I would see a hint of the Octavia I use to know shine through with her bright blue eyes. Although as soon as it comes it goes and she slips back underwater.

I share a hesitant look with Miller before he moves away to find Jackson along the sidelines. Gaia raises her hands to cease the cheering in the arena, "Each of these four combatants has committed crimes against Wonkru. They are our enemies, traitors to our people. Traitors to our code of unity, strength, and honor." Meeting Kane's gaze as it settles upon me, I try to keep my expression vacant no matter the anxiety and fear for him raging inside. "But today one of you will be given the chance to once again be called brother or sister", Gaia continues to preach to the audience before her "However first you must survive. The only rule in this arena is to be the last." As cheers erupt once more, Gaia states "As always... as we invite death into this hall... we honor it." As everyone bows their head I follow suit, my eyes only remaining open to watch Kane fearfully "Omon gon oson."

"Omon gon oson", I repeat shakily with the rest of the cheering audience.

It's quiet for another long moment as everyone awaits Gaia's commanding word. Her newly blonde head survey's the room calculatedly before announcing "Be the last."
