"I'm telling you this as your friend Octavia. How we lived was okay once. It's not anymore."

Pacing the streets my gaze flickers around the tents and fires I walk amongst on my way to fiddle with the rover. With the defects having a clear shot at the transport Diyoza ordered for them and nothing to do before Raven opens the back door I'm left jobless.

Spinning around a tent I'm taken aback when Madi practically smacks into me. "Oh shoot", I gasp in shock, reaching out to steady Madi who almost falls in her frazzled state. Noticing the anxious look in her eye, I ask her curiously "You alright? Where's Clarke? Are you guys alright?"

"Clarke wants to defect", Madi informs me quickly, her small hands wrapped around my forearms as I hold her steady "I need to set things straight with Octavia- I have to see Octavia-"

"Hey- slow your roll", I hold Madi in place when she tries to make a run for it once more, trying to wrap my head around what Madi's telling me "What do you mean set things straight?"

Sighing exasperatedly, Madi rambles off "I'm a nightblood. Clarke never gave me her bone marrow. I've been this way all along." Pursing my lips I nod along, rolling the information around in my head. When Madi notices I've paused she urgently yanks on my arm "Take me to Octavia. Talk on the way."

"Okay. Okay. Okay", I ramble as she tugs on me. Moving my hand to her back to guide her towards the bunker entrance we've dug out, I wonder "Is that why Clarke wants to defect?"

"It's just my blood", Madi grumbles as we wander through the crowd, all the while my eyes wander for my blonde bobbed friend "I don't understand why it makes me so special."

"Because nightbloods are like royalty to these folks", I try to explain to Madi "Some still believe in the chosen Commander who will lead them to salvation. For now they've placed their faith in Octavia since she rose to the occasion but if they catch wind that you're nightblood..." Trailing off I shake my head "Octavia could feel threatened by you and you can only push someone so far into a corner before they begin fighting back."

"Do you think she would..."

Kill me.

Madi's innocent childlike eyes trailing up to find mine, I bite my lip nervously. "You want me to give you the hard up truth?" I question her. Madi giving me a single confident nod I sigh, "Despite everything Octavia wouldn't kill a child. In spite of all the uncertainty around her that is the one thing I hold onto."
