The Engagement - Reader/Katie McGrath(FxF)

Thursday

Katie had woken up bright and early much to your surprise. You wanted to get some more sleep but she wouldn't allow you to close your eyes and fall back asleep. 

"(y/n)" She whined. "Get up. I want to go see all those touristy places with you."

You still didn't get up and this prompted for her to straddle your waist and lean down to kiss you. This got you up and she just laughed after noticing that you were much more awake. You moved your hands to place them on her waist but she stopped you, taking a hold of them and holding them above your head. 

"Nope. No touching unless you get ready so we can out for breakfast."

She moved off of you and headed to the closet to pick out some clothes to wear for the day. You groaned loudly and began to sit up when you were hit in the face with a shirt and some of your sweatpants. 

"(y/n)! We need to hurry up or they'll get overcrowded by the time we get there."

Katie had already dressed in another one of yours shirts and jeans along with one of your hoodies. To cover herself, she wore sunglasses and grabbed one of her hats as an extra precaution. In a hurry, you dressed up with what she had given you and followed her out to your car. 

"I'm driving. We're in a hurry and you like to follow the law."

"Hey! I can break the rules. I'm not always a goody two shoes."

"Sure. Says the one who does't like to cross the street until the signal allows her to even though there's no one coming from either side."

You pouted and kept quiet as she drove to the nearest drive through to pick up breakfast. 

"I'm sorry, (y/n). I love how you like to follow rules. Especially when you follow mine. I got you your favorite and a milkshake to apologize for upsetting you."

The truth was that she hadn't said anything to upset you, you just knew how she would try to do anything she could to get you to talk again after not talking for a couple of minutes. Katie had no idea about this and you weren't going to say anything. You did enjoying seeing the great lengths she would go to so you wouldn't be 'upset' anymore. 

"Thank you! and you're forgiven. Now come on. Someone took too long and we need to rush there before it gets crowded."

Katie didn't even bother to tell you anything as you had accused her of being the reason as to why you were running late. 

The two of you had finished breakfast before arriving to your first stop. A cliff overlooking the ocean. Most of your time was spent watching the waves while the two of you quietly kept to your own thoughts. 

"Quick. Lets get a picture. I want to take one at every stop we do. I don't have any recent pictures of us in my trailer and we need to fix that."

"Fine but I'm only doing it because I love you."

"Okay, I'm not sending these pictures to you."

"Nooo. I was kidding. Send them to me."

She laughed as you backtracked what you had said and then began to take selfies with the two of you and the ocean as the background. 

"We look adorable."

You commented as she showed you the picture. Not wanting to waste time. She led you back to your car and drove you to the next destination that she had on her list, the beach. 

"Wait! I didn't even bring my swimsuit or anything?" 

"You don't need them. I just wanted to come to the beach and have a walk with you. It's relatively empty so no one will spot us." 

She took your hand and began to walk along the edge of the sand. This made your feet get wet and you were just grateful that you had decided to wear sandals today. Katie had worn some tennis shoes so she had to take them off along with her socks so they wouldn't get wet.

The walk along the beach was exactly what the two of you needed. It was peaceful and the two of you enjoyed the fresh air that hardly either one of you got. 

"You know if my friends saw a picture of me at the beach, they would think it would be someone else."

"Wait. Why do you say that?"

"Have you seen how light my skin is? They would think that I'll avoid the beach at all costs to avoid getting sunburned."

"I mean, you kind of do avoid going outside."

She playfully smacked your arm and gently pulled you towards her so that she had her hands at your waist and you around her neck. 

"Shut up. I have my reasons to avoid going outside and avoiding the sun is not one of them."

"I highly doubt that but whatever you say, love."

You leaned in to kiss her and led her back to the car so you could drive to the nearest diner. After much walking around and sightseeing, the two of you were quite starving. 

No one seemed to pay any attention to Katie when she removed her poor attempt of disguise and this let the two of you breathe easier. The city was touristy enough that no one would pay anyone else attention. 

Food was ordered and soon eaten. Katie insisted on eating some dessert so the trip to the diner took much longer than what you had anticipated. There was only enough time to visit another sight before needing to head home. After paying, you decided to drive out to the area in order to surprise Katie. 

It had been ages since Katie had come to a carnival that when you pulled up to the parking lot, her whole face lit up.

"Come on! We have a lot of rides to go." 

As soon as the two of you had gotten out, she led you to the nearest ticket booth to buy enough to try every ride once and some leftovers to try out some games. 

This was when Katie came to realize that you weren't a big fan of some of these rides. She had noticed how nervous you had gotten when you approached the first ride. 

"We don't have to get on them?"

"What? No, of course we'll get on them. I know how you've been wanting to go on one and I'm okay with getting on them."

"Are you sure? We can just play the carnival games."

"Yes, babe! I promise to tell you if I don't want to get on any of the rides."

She was satisfied with this answer and took your hand as you got in line. Throughout the several rides, Katie never let go of your hand unless she needed to. It was late at night when the two of you had finished going on the rides. You could see how tired Katie was from the long day and didn't say anything as you let her lean on you while you walked to the car. 

Katie looked absolutely adorable passed out on the passenger side that you couldn't help but take a picture of her. It made you smile and set it up as your wallpaper before heading back home. She was too deep into her sleep that you didn't bother to wake her up as you carried her to your bedroom. Careful not to wake her up, you took off her jeans and covered her up. After changing into your pajamas, you laid down behind her and pulled her close to you as you fell asleep.
