The camera clicks a few times and I slightly shift my standing and look away from the camera. A few more flashes from the giant white flash and I face the camera yet again, slightly parting my lips for a chicer expression. The photographer stops shooting and looks over what he took with the editor and the team leader. They exchange approvals between each other then the photographer gives me a thumbs up, letting me know that I'm done with my solo shots. As I walk off the white screen that stretched down to the floor, Bambam grins at me proudly.
"You pose better than me, girl!" He compliments making me laugh.
"I've been modeling for a few years now, I'm just a girl who knows what she's doing," I tell him with a confident wink.
The team leader calls for Bambam to go next and I smile at him as he walks onto the white screen. As I watch him pose as the camera captures his movements, I can't help but admire how handsome he is. He smiled at the camera and I noticed how thick and pretty his lips looked. When he turned to the side and looked away from the camera, I noticed his sharp-looking jawline and his strong cheekbones. His style for the shoot added to his handsome look as he wore a gold chain necklace around his neck, a relaxed deep revere shirt which revealed his tan chest. The shirt was tucked into his light gray plaid pants that made me realize how skinny and long his legs are. To complete his look he wore a pair of silver glitter boots. His style was handsome, hot, and fierce, and just by looking at him, he already knew that.
The photographer finished taking photos of Bambam and reviewed what he took with the editor and the team leader. They approved of the photos and the team leader announced that we can take a 15-minute break before taking the duo shots. Bambam and I thanked the team leader with a bow and we went over to a table with some chairs to take a seat. Bambam's manager came by and handed Bambam a pen and a packet with questions. I assume that's the little Q&A questions that Marie Claire will include for the issue since Bambam is the special guest.
My agent came to me and handed me a bottle of water to drink and a snack bar to eat while resting. As Bambam answered the questions on the packet, he started talking to me as well.
"So, tell me about yourself. I only know that you work in a Gucci store part-time and you model as well."
I take a drink from my water bottle before answering, "Well, what do you want to know?"
Bambam looks up from the paper and gives me a cheeky grin, "Anything and everything."
I chuckle and begin to open the wrapper to the snack bar, "Hm...alright. Well, for starters, I'm not Korean."
He chuckles, "Neither am I. Where are you from?"
"I'm an immigrant from Hati! I moved to South Korea about 3 years ago."
"Cool, cool! I've been in Korea about...oh snap, 10 years now!"
My eyes widen at how long he's been here for. 10 years is a long time. If anything, Bambam definitely knows more about life here in Korea than me. He had to have scratched every surface.
"Haha, I guess you win," I tell him and he smiles.
"I was a kid when I became a trainee for JYP. It's crazy!"
"When you were a kid?!"
"Yup! But it definitely paid off. I'm living my best life now! Young and rich ayyeeee!!"
I laugh, "That's good! I'd say I am as well! I came here to learn more about Seoul fashion and immerse myself in the fashion community here and I really like where I am now."
"See! We already have so much in common already. We're both immigrants who came to Korea to thrive and here we are! Hahaha!"
As Bambam finished up the Q&A packet, we continued to talk more about ourselves and learn from each other. Bambam is easy to get along with and he's a very chill and funny guy. The team leader called us over to start the duo shoot and we got up from our spot to go back over to the white background where there was a single wooden chair. The photographer told Bambam to sit in the chair and he wanted me to sit on the floor in front of Bambam. We did as told and took our positions.
The first few poses and shots we did went well but the look on the team leader's face as he watched us, told us that maybe we're not exactly posing correctly. He stopped the photographer and told me to sit down on the floor next to Bambam instead of in front of him. I look to Bambam and he gives me a confused expression as I move next to him instead. We try again with our poses and expressions but the team leader seemed more cranky this time as he stopped us again.
He frustratedly started asking the staff why they gave him a girl like me to work with him. What was that supposed to mean? A girl from a black-skinned country like me? A girl with a small afro instead of long straight hair like me? A girl just trying to live her best life and make her family proud back at home like me? Never in any of the modeling project's I've taken before have meant anything like that to me. I immediately was taken aback and Bambam looked down at me and noticed my sadden and shocked expression. Bambam gets up from the chair and calls out the team leader.
"Yah! If you're not going to respect Tamara or me then we can just leave! We didn't sign up for this disrespect!"
Silence fills the set as all eyes looked between Bambam and the team leader. The team leader looked at Bambam in fear now and he quickly apologized and begged us to stay. Bambam looks at me and I give him a nod. We agree to continue and the team leader treated us with patience and respect this time. After the shoot ended we thanked the staff and we returned back to our stylists to have our makeup removed and to switch back to the clothing we came in with. When we finished I met up with Bambam.
"Thank you, for standing up for me," I say with a smile, fixing my purse on my shoulder.
"Of course! Are you alright though? What he said back there wasn't cool. He didn't present himself well in the first place."
"Yeah, I'm okay. It did shock me a bit but I'm not gonna let it get to my head."
Bambam smiles at me and puts a hand on my shoulder, "That's good to hear! Hey, I've got your back! We are friends now after all!"
"Haha yeah! We are!"
Bambam asks if he could get my number and I gladly exchange with him. My agent told me that we should start leaving and I nodded, saying goodbye to Bambam. We leave the building and the smile on my face never fades as I can't help but think about Bambam.
