Some time had passed.
The days had passed in front of Simon Cowell's eyes, each finale of them ending with a part of the hope that was sheltered in the bottom of his chest until nothing was left.
Yes, he reached the point where his fervent will to change his situation was extinguished, and just as it is to remove a band from his eyes, he saw the situation more objectively.
He comprehended that his problem was, in every sense of the word, incredible.
No one in his holy judgment would believe such a thing. If even he himself, living it in his own flesh, cost him a good time, he didn't imagine what it would be like for an external person. And if by the blessing of heaven, someone understood and helped him, what could they do? Report it to the police? Go to a doctor?
Two things could happen: either they investigated the case (3%) or they would be sent to the madhouse (97%).And what mattered most of all: why?
Why did it happen?
A kind of divine punishment? An accident? His blood froze when he thought maybe someone did this intentionally.
Who knows? There are really crazy people out there. And if, unfortunately, the last hypothesis was true, how would he be sure about who to trust and who not to trust?
He felt deprived of a solution and since there was no longer anything to inspire him to keep fighting, not even his company, mentally waved the white flag.
"Silly? Where are you?"
David's masculine voice echoed throughout the house.Simon didn't do anything to move. He stayed in the dog bed.
Anyway, David didn't take long to find him. His frown wrinkled as he noticed the passive state of his pet.
"What is it, my boy?"
His hand stroked his back.Bert also joined the meeting, seeking attention from his beloved person.
While Walliams was giving them affection, he decided it wasn't convenient to spend the rest of the afternoon at home and called one of his friends.
He needs to go out.
.
.
.The greenfield moved with the light wind of the cloudy day. It was relaxing, almost hypnotizing, and Simon, absorbed in it, found his place under the shade of a large tree, the moist soil under his body refreshing him.
Bert was there, smelling everywhere: the exquisite aromas of nature were a delight!
David and his friend took pictures of the beautiful landscapes, themselves or anything else that seemed right to them.
At one point, David's old friend says that he has to take a call and walks away, his cell phone stuck to his ear.
Walliams then looks around, making sure his dogs are okay. Bert was still in his world, very happy, and Silly was lying under a tree.
He chooses to go with Silly, thinking that his stillness wasn't normal.
The comedian sits next to him, caring little if his clothes got wet, and shrinks his legs to encircle them with his arms.
"Are you sad, Silly? What's going on in your little head?"
"Oh, David, if only you knew" Simon sighs.
David smiles sadly and stares into the horizon. The sunset was beginning.
"You know, I'm a little sad too."
Cowell looked up at him, trapped by his words.
That morning...
.
Simon Cowell's persistent absence began to arouse concern in his close ones. Amanda Holden then called her friends at BGT to visit him at home and clarify doubts, of course, David attended. But he wasn't there.
So they sought answers from his employees, but not even Simon's closest one knew about him.
"Here's his cell phone and wallet, all his belongings are intact and he's not in his other properties. It's like... he just had disappeared"
Everyone was silent, probably drawing their own conclusions. The blonde couldn't take it anymore and, sobbing hugged David.
"He's all right, isn't he? Simon just got tired and went on vacation without advising, right?" she asked.
David swallowed the knot in his throat caused by imagining the possible conclusion that broke Amanda's composure.
"Yes, he's fine, don't worry! After all, he's Simon Cowell" he could say in a calm voice, even though inside, he was just as baffled as she was, or even more.
.David shook his head "that bastard, why is he like that?"
He bit his lip.
Who was he kidding? He could pretend to be annoyed, indifferent and take lightly that his friend didn't show himself, but the harsh reality is that he was worried.Damn worried.
"I don't know why I care so much, Silly. We aren't great friends and we constantly clash in opinions. Besides, I think he hates me."
Simon didn't take his eyes off him.
David laughs half-heartedly."And even if I tried to hate him too, I couldn't. I have no reason, and I'm going to detest myself for saying this, but he's a great great man."
Simon's heartbeat accelerated, naturally reacting to the words that came from David's lips.
"He's very famous, yes, but he's more than that. He's also very generous to people with extreme difficulties and charity initiatives, more than other people I've ever seen. He's kind and gentle. He takes care of his close ones, he makes them smile. It seems that he thinks he's superior to others, but in reality, he knows how to recognize the effort and success of any person...".
A sweet feeling grew more and more inside Simon as the man spoke, filling every corner of his being.
He felt totally enraptured.Of course, Simon Cowell is a target of compliments and flattery, but they were usually no more than superficial and somewhat hollow.
But what David Walliams had just said wasn't superficial, and certainly not hollow. You could feel the sincerity, authenticity, and affection in his words. His words were real.
"Oh my God, he is..." David clenched his lips and fists.
The tycoon held his breath, waiting for his continuation.
"Hey David, what if we leave now? It's late" his friend came back.
David was forced to recover, get out of that peaceful atmosphere, and smiles on a first impulse "of course".
That night, Walliams, Bert, and Simon came home safe and sound.
You can say that there was no change in them, but genuinely, something, that night, had changed Simon.
And that something, for now, nameless and incomprehensible to him, managed to be the comfort of man's restless soul.
He felt no more desolation that night, nor the days that followed.
