Since adult Walliams had returned to 'fabulous' bachelorhood, his free time has increased considerably.
Having a partner (and not to say a wife) involved giving a lot of your time to her, to such an extent that your life ceases to be yours. Because, all your senses, every breath and thought of yours, are for her.
Well, that's how it used to be for him. Everything was different now.
Spending so much time at home, with the crippling silence enclosed in the walls and his incessant thoughts lurking in the painful words 'if I had...', led him to feel on the verge of losing his mind.
So, on professional advice, he took refuge in one of his favorite hobbies: swimming.
Much of the week was spent in practice.
And that did him a lot of good. One Tuesday, at three o'clock in the afternoon, David returned from a morning of swimming and, why not, eating with his trainer.
"I'm home!," he says as usual.
Beautiful when, Simon's pulse, reacted to his voice, to his arrival, accelerating, giving him more life.
He ran, along with Bert, to meet him."My babies, did you miss me?"
David throws his sports bags to the floor and takes them in his arms. Walliams' body vibrates by the slight laughter caused by Bert's kisses on his jaw "oh, my Bertie, I love you so much".Simon watched that significant scene in silence.
How many times had the man heard him laugh?
Though countless, the sound of his laughter was so new and familiar at the same time that he felt able to hear it without tiring.David then turns to him and grins "Silly, don't be so jealous, I love you too".
Cowell found himself giving the man a dog kiss. The brown-haired man's smile widened, "I knew you'd love me someday."
Simon ignored the warm feeling in his heart when he heard that "jeez, you're a fool."
The tall man walked into the living room and dropped himself on the largest sofa. The dogs quickly settled in, Bert on his lap and Silly on his chest.
"My God, I'm exhausted" David stretches to reach the remote and put something on TV.
He divided his attention between the TV, his phone and caressing his loved ones on earth.
Simon, being in his chest, listened clearly to his beats and felt his breath rise and fall, something that soon lulled him.
He didn't stop to question himself because this made him feel so good. He thinks it was one of those things that was best to enjoy without wondering why.
Too bad his nap was over because David got up.
"Goddamn it, did you have to ruin it?"
Simon didn't keep it to himself, growling.Within minutes, Walliams came back.
"Come on, babe, let's go to the backyard" spoke kindly to the schnauzer.
Bert makes a mocking sound "enjoy, Simon" and goes back to sleep.
"What are you talking about?"
"You'll see"
David carries him and together they go out to the backyard. It was very nice, medium sized, well cared for thanks to the gardener. The grass, little flowers and cat's claw looked spectacular.
The tycoon understood everything when he saw a small red tub full of water, a bucket, a towel and a small white soap.
"I know we're just getting along and you may hate me for this, but it's for your own good," he put the dog in the warm water.
If he were human, Simon's face would be very red.
And why? Well, because David freaking Walliams, that man who loves to annoy him smuttly, was about bathing him.He lathered the bar of soap and began with the grayish back, sides and spent some time massaging the white neck.
Simon felt something similar to pleasure and closed his eyes, involuntarily dropping his head into David's hand, as if asking for more.
David chuckles, "You like this, don't you?"
Cowell opens his eyes suddenly, becoming conscious of what he was doing and shakes his head.
"Damn it David, just shut up and get it over with."
A few more minutes and the owner finishes rinsing him.
"Wow, Silly, I thought this would be more difficult."It took a few moments after those words for mischief and rascality to take control of Simon's actions.
"Mm, let's see what I can do. For all you owe me, Walliams."
Silly, totally wet, shakes with energy, throwing drops of water in all directions and David, laughing, puts his hands in front and squints his eyes, in defense of the water attack.
"Wait Silly! Let me dry you first!" tries to wrap him in the towel, but Simon leaves the tub and goes away. David sighs "I said pretty soon you made it easy for me, right?"
Simon chuckles, barks, and keeps his sight in Walliams' eyes, challenging him. The man attempts to catch him again with the towel, but the schnauzer was very quick.
The situation worsened for the swimmer when Simon detected his phone in the grass and grabbed it between his teeth.
David was alarmed "oh no, Silly no, let go of that".
"Make me" Cowell leaned over, getting ready.
What followed was an arduous and amusing chase of the man, moving all over the garden. His aching muscles didn't help at all, but he kept trying.
Every time Simon stopped and suddenly changed direction it caused David to stagger, but in one of these, he finally fell to the green ground.
Walliams laughs brightly, lying on his back, "Oh my God, I can't go on any longer," he says between his heavy breaths.
His friend also laughed cheerfully, happily. With the phone still on his snout, he climbs up to his chest.
His brown eyes settled on him and he chuckled one last time "you beat me, are you happy now?"
"Very" confesses Simon.
David takes the cell phone and Simon lets him have it back: he was already satisfied.
