Henry

It came again. This feeling of being conscious. Somewhat disorienting. Wasn't he supposed to be really dead now?

They had lived a full life with Songkarn. Together until the end. He had refrained from drinking his memories away. He had been given a chance. As he had moved on and waited for his rebirth. Well not exactly waiting. Until this very second, he had no thought of existing. So it could not be called waiting... right?

As time didn't exactly flow here. So where was he exactly and why wasn't he being born again?

"You do have a weird sense of existence, don't you?"

This sudden thought appeared in him. Around him. Not a sound but so much as a feeling.

"Though you are right. We do usually give souls a chance to be reborn again. But not this time. Not with you. There are different plans for you."

Still, the thoughts didn't exactly have a tangible effect on words. All that he could sense were feeling of thoughts.

"You are quite right. This is how we communicate on this plane. With whispered thoughts. But this is just how we explain it to you. In the expressions of the universe... whispered thoughts seem kind of too mild in the perspective of everything."

Henry thought for a second and then tried it for himself.

"Are you a Deity?"

"Yes and no. We are all and nothing at all. We do exist in everything and everywhere. And there is no way of knowing 'where' ."

"And how did I get this honour to be in contact with you?"

"We find you, unlike most souls. So we have a very special task you should be charged with."

There seemed to be a long pause, until 'it' or 'they', continued.

"We can't call you a guardian angel but we can't give you a chance to call yourself a human either. But still a human you shall be. Again in the same form as before. Try to see yourself as someone who is and who will be."

"Is this a curse of mine? Living forever again?"

"I think it's too soon for you to talk about forever. Your definition of time is so screwed up. Let's be honest, even though we have not been here forever. You only lived a millennium and I think it's no use to whine about so little of a time."

Henry could feel annoyance behind the words. He still wasn't sure if they talked or thought or felt all that was somehow communicated to him. Also, he wasn't sure if he shouldn't feel more intimidated as communication with them continued.

"We think you got dealt a tricky hand last time. We did help you as much as we could. The feelings and love you two shared. We loved feeling it. It made us happy and content, that something so precious was born from your rough life. They were the saving grace on the day you died. So now, we are giving you a chance. To do something for the love you still feel with your whole being.

Songkarn was born again, with a thought of you in his mind, so he got his love with you again. But we want to give you two a chance to be together, for a time. It's rather complicated. Mostly because we need Songkarn's soul for another future, and we think that the experiences he has been handed in this particular life... might ruin his chances to get ready for it. As we said. Pretty hard to put into words, but the schematic of the situation looks like this..."

Henry tried to keep his mind open to all this information. It was exhausting. To try to figure words out as they were meant, demanded a lot of effort. And now as it got even a lot more specific, it was a lot harder. And all of it was silently consumed because of his worry, his feelings for Songkarn.
