Tessa

After a long weekend at Megan's mansion, I return to my own home early the next morning to get ready for hell--a place otherwise known as high school.

"Welcome, Miss Mendoza," Mr. Cruz greets me as I enter the classroom.

"Sorry, I overslept," I say, giving my usual excuse, but honestly, my alarm didn't go off.

"Of course you did." He sighs, pointing at the only empty seat left. "Kindly sit down."

I grimace. Of all the people I could have sat next to, it had to be Reed King?

When he notices me glaring at him, he gives me a big, repulsive grin. "Hey, where's your friend, Megalodon?"

"What did you call her?" I demand, my dark eyes flashing dangerously.

"You heard me," he says cheekily with a smirk plastered on his annoying face.

"Stop calling her that!" I shriek in anger. "She refuses to come to school because of you!"

"That's awesome. We don't have to see her ugly face ever again," he says, smiling devilishly.

"That's it! I've had it with you and your sick comments!"

"Miss Mendoza!" Mr. Cruz admonishes from the front of the room. "What do you think you're doing?"

"Something I should have done years ago," I answer before punching Reed King in the face. He screams as he falls forward before landing on the floor. Hearing the gasps, I know everyone is surprised; I just gave their precious king a bloody nose, and I can't be happier that I did.

"Miss Mendoza. Principal's Office. Now!"

"Whatever," I say, shrugging as I walk out the door, feeling satisfied.

"Miss Mendoza, what do you have to say for yourself?" asks the principal as soon as I step inside her office; she didn't even wait for me to sit down.

"Nothing much," I say, settling on a chair in front of her marble white desk.

"Really now?" she replies, crossing her pale hands together. "Mr. Cruz just called, saying you punched Reed King in the face. Is that correct?"

"Yes," I state blankly.

"And why did you do that?"

"Because he made me mad."

The principal sighs. "What did he do?" she asks.

"Remember Megan Hernandez?"

"Of course." She smiles merrily. "She's one of my best students.. though she has been struggling with PE and Math.."

"Well, Reed insulted her. I had to do something for my best friend, so I punched him. If he keeps saying heartless things to her or about her, I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

"Did he now?"

"Yes! And I know I shouldn't have done that, but he just makes me so mad!"

"I understand your feelings, but next time, simply tell a teacher instead of punching someone in the face."

"Fine," I grumble, crossing my arms across my chest. "So what happens to me? Am I expelled?"

"Well, since you're completely not at fault here, I'm giving you two weeks detention, understand?"

"Fair enough." I nod, knowing I'm getting off easy. "What about Reed? He started it. Shouldn't he be punished as well?"

"Don't worry about Mr. King. I'll deal with him." She points at the door. "You can head back to class now. Second period just started."
