Megan

I'm going to get a--sigh--job.

"Bro, are you a human cat? You nap all the time, need to be loved, are so done with everyone's shit, always wants snacks, might want to kill everyone, and you're cute but will fight," says green-eyed ginger Rock Lane, as he and his best friend tuck copies of my resumes into brown envelopes on the white carpeted floor of my and Mara's dorm room on Wednesday afternoon.

Black-haired, blue-eyed Bop Kane shake his head at his longtime friend. "No, bro. We're more like.. adults. We're adults, but like..adult cats. Someone should probably take care of us, but we can sort of make it on our own," he replies, reaching for another envelope.

"Hey. Hey Meg," Rock calls out to me as I answer an activity sheet that's due tomorrow. Thank God I'm left-handed. I'm sitting behind my study table, pushing back my swivel chair to look at the two guys on my pastel-pink-yellow bed, a mess of resumes and envelopes spread out on the blankets.

My brown eyes look at him from across the dorm room. "Yes, Rock?"

"Are you a raccoon?" He grins, seeing my puzzlement. "Because you have dark circles under eyes, eat junk food, you're  small and chubby and you stay up all night but you're adorable and will fight back if you have to."

"Bro," says Bop, offering his fist.

"Bro," echoes Rock, bumping his fist on Bop's fist.

I slam the side of my head on my table, groaning miserably. "I can't decide if I need XL coffee,a hug, 8 shots of vodka, 826 chicken nuggets, or 2 months of sleep," I whine.

I need to stay awake.. One silver lining is, with Bop and Rock here, I get free entertainment from listening to their weirdly random conversations:

Bop: "You know, when I said I wanted the real world to be more like Harry Potter, I just meant the teleportation and the magic stuff, not the entire plot of book 5 where the government refuses to do anything about a deadly threat so the teenagers have to rise up and fight back."

Rock: "We're going to watch the 2019 live action of The Little Mermaid, right?"

Bop: "Of course. The actress who will play Ariel.. What's her name? H. Bailey? Thoughts, bro."

Rock: "Albinism is a genetic disorder. Maybe you mean Caucasian white? Anyway, hate this change too. There is absolutely no reason for them to black-lash this character. It's obvious pandering. Hope last-minute changes can be made."

Bop: "If I were them I would prefer someone who would look closer to Ariel. This is an adaptation from cartoon to real life. Moviegoers tend to notice the main characters first."

Rock: "I would prefer someone who would look closer to Ariel. This is an adaptation from cartoon to real life. Moviegoers tend to notice the main characters first.

Bop: "True. They keep using the "diversity" card on the wrong movies. Its not racist, it's just the wrong girl for the Disney character. I am looking forward to seeing the movie cause it was our childhood but then it disappoints me a lot. Correct, it is the wrong girl.. not being racist though but this just adds fuel to being racism.."

Rock: "What is the difference between I like you and I love you?"

Bop: "When you like a flower, you just pluck it. But when you love a flower, you water it daily."

Rock, on Hamilton: "I don't understand why people don't like musicals. It's the greatest work an actor can do. It's standing bare in front of an audience, manufacturing all those emotions night after night. There no space for flaws that can be cut off on the editing room. It's telling a story without a green screen and different locations. It's just the raw talent of all people involved and it makes me sad that it's not appreciated enough."
