FALLING INTO THE K-POP HOLE Featuring Rose Isle, Performing Arts Major
Author's Point of View
Monday Noon:
Hmm.. Our classroom feels so nice and breezy.. It's pretty cold.. Good thing I brought my thick black scarf. Rose deftly wraps it around her neck, then she reaches into her black satchel bag and fishes out her compact mirror.
Rose smiles into the glass, admiring her reflection: Sparkly green eyes, cute button nose, black lips, and ginger waves cascading down her black-clad shoulders.
She claps the compact shut and yawns into her fist. As she thrust the mirror into her bag, her head feels heavy and her body feels cool. She's about to fall asleep; thankfully, it's her lunch break.
"AH!!!" The redhead flinches upon hearing the loud, girlish screams.
Rose squints her green eyes, spotting more than a dozen girls crowding the wide flat screen where the professors usually present their lectures. Someone has connected her laptop to the back of the screen and several girls have flocked to watch music videos and live performances of a Korean boy group.
"OH MY GOD! He's so handsome!" "Gorgeous!" "Did you see? Did you see him smiling?" "My heart is about to explode!" "I love them so much it hurts!" "I wanna go to Korea so bad!"
"Me too! I want to meet them!" "I feel so attacked right now!" "His duality is going to kill me!" "Shit! His eyes are so sexy!" "My gosh! They're so in sync!" "That leg work! That choreography!"
Damn. They're so noisy. I want to sleep.
More fan-girl screams. "His vocals! His visuals! I can't even!!" "Sir, this is a McDonald's drive-thru!" The volume intensifies. "OH MAN HOLY SHIT! Their shirts went up for a second!!!!"
Why are they so crazy about celebrities that only exist in TV? I should just sleep.
Until then, Rose Isle believed that being a K-pop stan was completely from another world.
Monday Evening:
Back in the dorm room she shares with aspiring doctor Jazz Zamora, the blue-eyed blonde who always wears white clothes is sitting cross-legged on her vanilla-white duvet, watching something on her (surprisingly black) laptop on her lap.
"Rose," she calls the green-eyed ginger in a black nightgown. When the redhead turns to look at the blonde, Jazz shifts her laptop so the screen is facing Rose. "What do you think about this actor? He can act, and he's got a great voice, too."
"He's alright, I guess?" Rose shrugs her shoulders.
"Right? I hope I marry someone like him someday."
That seems like wishful thinking. He IS pretty good-looking, though.
What other shows did he star in? Maybe I can find it online. I start looking him up on Google.
Wow, talk about a workaholic. He was on dramas and movies. Interview clip? Let's see..
Hours pass. Before Rose knows it, she can hear the birds chirping outside.
"What?! It's morning already??" School starts in one hour. She should probably take a shower now.
Just one more V App clip and she'll really get out of bed.
K-Pop Stan Beginner Phase:
Tuesday noon:
Lunch time. Rose is so engrossed with her phone that she doesn't notice the brown-eyed brunette sneaking up from behind.
