Sakura's POV

I sprinted to Ino's house after getting the 'ok' from Tsunade, who would be taking over my position. I picked up Sarada, explaining the situation to Ino and Sai and went back home with her.

"Mommy? Why did you come and get me?" She asked.

I didn't know how to answer.

'Your father sounded like he was dying and he said for me to keep you safe so you don't get killed.'

That was not how I would answer. I would never be able to say that to her.

"Because." I said. I had never once said just 'because.'

Sarada looked at me with worry in her eyes. I pulled her close to me and kissed the top of her head. "Sorry, baby girl. I can't really explain what's happening but we're going to have lots of fun ok?" I asked. "Ok Mommy." She smiled, though I could tell she was hiding a frown. "You wanna make some cookies for Dad!? I'm sure he'd love them when he gets back!" I said. Crap. He might not come back for quite some time. I said to myself.

"I'm not in the mood right now." She said, getting up and going to her room.

My coworkers were right.

I'm a terrible wife and mother.

Sasuke's POV

I limped to the hospital doors, stumbling and collapsing as I made it in the lobby. "Sasuke! What's wrong!?" A nurse asked. I panted in exhaustion as I laid on the ground helplessly. I opened my mouth to warn the nurse. It was too late. My world became a blur and is quickly just became a black void.

I'm sorry......Sakura......Sarada.....

Sakura's POV

Knock!

I walked to the front door and opened it. "Lady Tsunade. Come in." I said, opening the door a bit further. I showed her to the living room, inviting her to sit down. I looked to the hall where Sarada's room was. She was peeking from the crack in her door to see if it was Sasuke.

"You needed to talk?" I asked.

"Yes. I was just going to say it at the the front door. Actually, do you mind stepping somewhere more....safe to talk about sensitive information?" She asked, knowing that Sarada would hear our conversation. "I don't mind at all." I said, showing her back to the front door and leading her outside.

"You need to listen to me fully. Understand?" She asked. I nodded, my heart almost jumping outside of my chest from the suspense. She wrapped me in her arms.

"Sasuke.....was attacked. He's in the hospital.....in a coma. I'm sorry Sakura.....I-I tried to get him out of it but who knows when he's gonna get out of this!! I'm so sorry!! I'm such a failure! Please, forgive me, Sakura!" She said, her voice shaky as tears fell. My eyes were wide in shock as tears began to fall.

"Sas....uke......" I began. I slid out of Tsunade's arms and collapsed as I began to cry, pounding my fist on the hard ground.

"It's all my fault!! I heard how much pain he was in!! I should've gone to save him! Now he's in a coma!! Everyone was right!! I'm a terrible mother, wife, and doctor!!!" I screamed as the tears poured nonstop.

I immediately froze.

"I don't know how I'm going to tell Sarada....." I said. "Do you want me to?" Tsunade asked, wiping a few last tears from her own eyes. "No.....I'll feel bad if I don't do it myself." I said, standing up and wiping a few tears. "But please come with me." I added as we walked back inside.

"Sarada!! Come out here!" I shouted as we went to the living room, Sarada meeting us out there. "Mommy? Who is that?" Sarada asked as she sat on my lap, facing me. "This is my teacher, Lady Tsunade. She's the fifth Hokage." I said. She looked at my mentor in awe as she smiled brightly. "Was she Daddy's teacher too!?" Sarada asked.

Hearing her say something about her father made my heart skip a beat. Tsunade rubbed my back as I took a breath. "No, just mine. Baby girl, I need to talk with you." I said. She looked at me in confusion. She could tell I wasn't myself.

"Why are you sad?" She asked.

It took everything I had to not cry.

"Baby, listen to me. It's ok if you want to cry, I did. Daddy is in a long sleep right now called a coma. He might not wake up for a while so I'm going to ask Aunt Ino if you can stay with her for a little while because I'll be working for a long time." I said, a few tears leaking from my eyes. Sarada stared at me as a few tears began to spill. I hugged her as we both cried.

"Mommy, is Daddy going to be ok?" She asked.

"I'm going to be honest with you, Sarada....I-"
"He's going to be fine." Tsunade interrupted, giving me a reassuring nod. I smiled. "He's going to be just fine."

I kept repeating that in my head for about a week and a half. I stayed by Sasuke's bedside, talking to him and hoping he'd hear me.

Weeks later......

"Sasuke....I miss you. I miss hearing your voice and just....I just miss you. Please wake up soon. Sarada now thinks you're dying because you haven't woken up yet. Please. I beg.....wake up. I hate seeing Sarada so hopeless!! She really doesn't believe that you're going to wake up. Please.....Wake up!!!" I said, holding his hand.

Wait.

Was that......

Did I really just.......

Did I just feel him squeeze my hand back!?

"Sasuke!?" I asked.

Then I saw it.

His eyelids twitched.

"Wake up!! Baby!! Please wake up!! Please!!!" I cried.

He shot up, gasping as he panted following the gasp.

"Y-You're....awake!" I cried as I hugged him.

"Ah! Sakura!! Get off!! It hurts!" He said, pushing me off and holding his fist to his chest in pain. "Sorry, dear. I'm just really happy." I said. "How long has it been?" He asked. "About a month." I said.

"Crud." He said harshly, ripping the cords and medical equipment off of him. He then realized he was in a hospital robe. He found his clothes and went to the bathroom and quickly changed. "Dear? What's happening?" I asked.

"Where's Sarada?" He asked.

"With Ino and Sai." I said. He immediately ran to their house, soon coming back with Sarada by his side.

"We need to go home." He said.
