What type of loss is needed to manifest such a horrid creation? All that resided and still exists within were good intentions.

But, good intentions lead to clouded reasoning and damaging decisions.

And here, Fugaku Uchiha faces a choice. A consequence of his actions stands before him, begging not to cast him aside.

"Don't do this! Dad, please!"

Fugaku has a choice to make. He forces the words from his mouth, staring at his broken creation. "I am not your father."

He presses the button, destroying the very thing he loved most.

For a second time, Fugaku loses a son.

...

It wasn't the same.

It may have looked like him, talked like him, behaved liked him, but It wasn't the same.

But the pain of watching random servicemen hoist It into a cardboard box is all real.

Sasuke wonders why it hurts so much. His brother, although fake this time, was taken away from him again. He turns his head, watching as the men tape up the box, sealing It's fate.

"What would you like us to dump him in the trash, sir?"

They all turn to Fugaku, waiting on bated breath. Another difficult decision presents itself to Fugaku, and he ponders what to do with this corrupted thing.

While Fugaku talks to the servicemen, Sasuke turns to his mother. Mikoto's eyes and cheeks are rosy red from crying.

Other than Fugaku, she was the first to take a liking to the Android. They called It Itachi, named after their late son. It looked and behaved so much like the real thing that Mikoto latched on to it moments after It's creation.

Now here she is, putting Itachi to rest again. A mother should never have to bury her son twice.

"How could you do this?" Her voice wavers, on the line of hysteria.

"You saw what it did," Fugaku says grimly.

"He's our son!"

"It was a toy! That thing should have never been created!"

"How could you say that?!"

Sasuke covers his ears. He hates it when they fight. Ever since the real Itachi was hit with a terminal illness they've been fighting; his death only exacerbated everything. Always, they were at each other's throats, faking smiles when Itachi was around.

It brought them joy. It filled the missing piece that was their family. Now It is gone too; wrapped up in his little, cardboard coffin, never to awake again.

Could they not see that Sasuke was hurting the most?

...

Dinner is quiet. Only the sounds of forks scraping against ceramics echos through the room. It's deafening, and each scrap increases in volume until Sasuke pushes his chair out. Everything stops. The family is on edge.

"I'm going to Naruto's," is all he mutters as he leaves the room. Mikoto reaches out for him, but the fabric of his clothes slips from her fingers.

Sasuke quickly packs a bag for an overnight stay. He couldn't be bothered to listen to his parents scream at one another while he attempts to sleep. He's had enough. He needs to get away.

He slings the bag full of clothes over his shoulder and climbs down the stairs. The box with Itachi in it sits in the foyer, propped up against the wall.

Can't believe they kept him. Sasuke was sure his father was going to throw It out, but with his mother hysteric like that, it wasn't likely.

He puts his hand on the box as if he's checking for a heartbeat.

"Why'd you have to leave me Itachi?"

Sasuke didn't know whether that question directs to the Android or the real Itachi. All the hurt inside of him pools in his stomach as his hand slides down the box to his side again.

"I'm sorry big brother. I couldn't save you again."

He leaves, vowing to never return to this house again. Without his brother alongside him, what is the point of continuing to live here? His father doesn't acknowledge him; his mother becomes hysteric when she doesn't get her way. The only good thing about his family was Itachi, the fake and the real one.

But now that It broke, their perfect family crumbles, returning to bitterness and resentment.

He hates it, so he's leaving.

Fifteen years old, Sasuke Uchiha.

Missing.
