I was resting my head on my arms in my sixth period World History class. I tried to sleep, but a few thoughts filled my head.
First there was that thing that Kenzie mentioned yesterday. I was contemplating if Asher was the guy that I really needed. I mean, I wasn't entirely sure if Alex was jealous of him. In fact, I thought it was the other way around especially because of what Alex just did.
And if he was, I wasn't so sure that Asher would be eager to be in a relationship with me. To be honest, I didn't even know how to ask him. Asher, can you be my boyfriend? It sounded weird just thinking about it. But, I mean, he could say yes. He was probably really mad at Alex, so there was a slight chance.
Second, Coach Snider, the head coach of the men's lacrosse team, approached me this morning and asked if I could continue tutoring Asher during the weekends. Apparently, Asher got his grades up and could play lacrosse again. Not surprising.
But Coach Snider wanted me to keep teaching him so that he could keep his grades up. I wanted to tell his coach that Asher didn't need it, but Asher probably wouldn't take too kindly to me spreading the news that he was actually smart.
If he actually tried in school, I think he could steal Kenzie's valedictorian spot for himself. But anyways, I just nodded my head at Coach Snyder and he thanked me. I texted Asher that I needed to talk to him, but he never replied. I just wanted to tell him about the tutoring thing.
I'd be fine personally if we just pretended that I tutor him, but I also felt really bad for taking credit for his work. I just wanted to ask him what he thought about it.
Well, I didn't notice that class ended until Mr. Jiggs shook me. I lifted my head up from my arms and noticed that the entire class was empty. As I was packing my things, Jiggs told me that if he saw me sleeping again, he'd give me detention.
I left the room ignoring what he said and walked to my locker. There, I noticed Nate leaning against the wall talking to Kenzie. If I didn't know any better, they were probably a couple, but they would tell me if they were. Right?
I snuck up behind Kenzie and shook her from behind. She jumped up from shock and turned around to look at me. She slapped me in the arm and I rubbed the spot. "Don't do that!"
"Sorry. Just having some fun." I shrugged at her and opened my locker. I was listening in on their conversation and they were talking about the lacrosse game coming up in two weeks.
Along with being the smartest person in our class (well except for Asher), Kenzie was also our student body president so she cared about all the school events and made sure she attended as much as she could. She also liked ogling the guys from other schools during the games.
I, on the other hand, liked staying at home, but if the match-up was good, I'd normally watch. The game in two weeks was a really important one. Our Tigers were going up against the Eagles, our school rival in lacrosse. So, I did kind of want to watch it.
I closed my locker after grabbing my computer and putting my books away. I always brought my computer with me to school because I used it to work on assignments during English and some other classes.
"So, Nate." I faced him and he waited for me to ask him something. "Umm. Have you seen Asher in any of your classes or in the halls or something?"
He shook his head after giving it some thought. "No, I don't think he came to school. Why?"
"Oh, nothing. I just had to tell him something. But it's fine." Before he could ask any more questions, I walked away and went straight to my car.
