Asher stood in front of me looking into my eyes quizzically. I could tell he was taken aback by what I had just proposed. "You're kidding?" Seriously, that's all he had to say after that.

Now, it was my turn to give him a quizzical look. "Umm.. did it sound like I was kidding?" I'm pretty sure that no one would joke about fake dating another person. Like the fuck.

"You, Me. Date?" He pointed at me and then at himself while saying that. I know that it was kind of ludicrous, but he made it sound like dating me was the worst thing in the world. It made feel a bit insecure.

I honestly didn't know what to say. I just continued looking at him waiting for another reply, but none came out. "Temporarily."

"Umm..." Before he could finish the sentence, Asher wandered around the living room, checking under the table, behind the couch, and so on.

It was kind of funny how flustered he was. "What are you doing?"

"Looking for one of those small microchip recording thingies." He couldn't really be serious. He actually thought that I'd be recording him. How would that even benefit me. Seriously? For the nerd that he is, he isn't too smart.

As he continued to look around, I felt like he was just wasting time. He wouldn't find anything. "Stop." However, he continued to search the area. "Asher, stop. I'm fucking serious."

Asher stopped and started to laugh. His laugh was pretty contagious, so much so that I found myself giggling a little for no reason. "Yeah, and I'm 50."

He seriously needed to work on his sense of humor. Like that was dead-ass boring. "What?"

Right when he had said that joke, I could tell that he regretted it because I could see the cringed expression on his face. "Nothing. Forget it."

"So, is that a yes?" I've been fighting through an internal struggle for days now. I wasn't going to accept a no.

"Uh, no. I don't know what your motive is, so I'm gonna have to decline. Sorry, Clumsy." He wagged his index finger at me. That nickname though. It still kind of bothered me.

"You want to know what my motive is? I want him to get jealous. To be angry. To regret." I was feeling a bit empowered as I imagined Alex in such a state. That sight would make me content.

"Yeah, sure." He said sarcastically. "If I wanted him to get jealous, I'd probably just date a supermodel or something." Damn, he could just tell me I was ugly or something. But that would be a lie honestly. I'd consider myself an average-looking girl.

"Just in case you remember. I was his ex, so he definitely would." Anger was starting to build up inside me. Seriously. Asher was so good at making me mad.

"Mhmm. The ex he dumped for another girl. Yeah, he definitely would. You know what? You convinced me. Let's date." Wow. He was just filled with sarcasm today, huh?

"Trust me."

"You're not my type. And if I were to fake date someone, it'd be with someone pretty at least." Oh hell nah. He did not just call me ugly. I know I said he should be upfront and honest, but like really? He's called me fat already. And now he's calling me ugly. This boy.

I had to defend myself. "I am pretty." I choked a little. "Enough." I added.

He snorted at my response. "Yeah, keep telling yourself that. At least you got confidence." Ooh, what I would give to punch his sorry little face right now. He's literally asking for one. Like hot damn.

I flipped him off. "I'm trying to help both of us here. You could at least consider it." Before he could reply, I added, "And you know what, you're not that good looking yourself." It was obviously a lie but I couldn't think of another comeback.
