Chapter 22: Eyes

Jennifer’s POV

I open my eyes to find myself tied with chains and my blood splattered on the floor. How did I even get here? I thought to myself. I try to rub my eyes without hurting my face but fail to do so as the sharp edges of the chains cut through the skin of my cheek on the slightest touch.

“Keep your eyes closed! Don’t wake up!” I hear someone beside me. I turn my head slightly to see who it is and gasp. “Noah? What are you- Why- What’s happening?!” I ask keeping my tone as low as possible.  “Aaron killed your mother and I got pissed on my father and got in a fight with him and that’s how I ended up here.

“My- mo-“ I try to register whatever he said but instead of crying or screaming or feeling hurt I just stay quiet. My mother is dead. She no longer lives. I will never get to hug her ever again. and yet here I am, not feeling a bit of hurt. “Aaron?” I ask keeping my eyes fixed on the chains that are tied around my small hands.

“Your stepfather.” Noah says kicking me slowly near my ankles. “You okay?” he asks.

“My stepfather.” I repeat. “He was one of you guys, wasn’t he?” I ask calmy.

“Jen, I think you should sleep. You’re not in a state for a discussion like this one.” He says

“He was, wasn’t he?” I ask again. “I think you sho-“ before he could complete his sentence I yell asking the same question again, “WASN’T HE?!” I couldn’t recognise my voice myself. the whole cell that we were locked in started shaking. Noah’s eyes had a terrified look in them and I hadn’t realised I was standing up until I saw Noah looking up at me. his lips started trembling and small terrified purrs left his mouth. “Yes.” He squeaked. I fell on my knees and closed my eyes. Holding my head in my hands I realised I had somehow managed to break the chains. I held my hands out to see that I was healing. All my wounds and scratches were as good as gone. “What is happening to me?” I ask to no one in particular.

“Your wolf side is finally coming out.” Noah says scooting closer to me. “Jennifer, listen to me, you have to destroy the Black Crystal, you-“ he pauses midsentence and looks at me with a frown.

“What?” I ask confused.

“Your eyes, Jenny.” He says.

“What about them?”

“They have turned purple.”

Harry’s POV

I gasp and cough as I try to catch my breath. “Alpha! Are you okay?” I hear Alec’s voice and feel someone’s hand on my arm. My eyes still shut, trying to adjust with the light. “What happened to me?” I ask

“You just fell. I guess it’s probably because of the mate pull.” Alec says.

“Bullshit, I’m an Alpha, it was something much stronger than mate pull.” I put a hand over my eyes trying to make it hurt less. I cough a little more before opening my eyes. I hear gasps coming from the people around me. “Harry.” Alec whispers.

“Hmm” was my only reply.  

“Your eyes.. they- they’re green again.” He says almost in a shock and the new itself was enough to make me jump to my feet.

“The- The crystal! Jennifer! Oh god! What if he has extracted the liquid- what if we’re too late Alec!” I start pacing from right to left as Alec constantly tries to calm me down.

“Harry, what if Jennifer has the crystal now? That could also be a possibility, right?”

“But she hasn’t turned into a werewolf yet! The crystal belonged to me after my father and I gave it to Jennifer, but for me to lose the possession of the crystal, the person who has it has to be a werewolf! And I wouldn’t lose possession if Xavier has it, because the crystal belongs to my pack!” I say running a hand through my hair and tugging at the roots in frustration.

“Harry, what if- I mean, it is possible that she has shifted. You know.” he says

“No, the other spirit would never let that happen, Alec. I just- Tell everyone to get ready. We’re going on a war.”

“What are you talking about? You can’t declare a war yet!” he exclaims

“I can and I will. Now get to work.” I say and leave the office.  “Nora, send a message to the RedWoods. Tell them I’m coming to kick their ugly asses.”

“On it.” She says and runs into the woods.
