I don't know when I fell asleep but I did. I woke up from a sudden bump in the road which startled me. "Huh where are we?" I looked at the thick forest trees that were whipping past as the car drove.
I looked to my father who seemed to have a frown plastered to his face. "I got a call from grandpa, your mothers dad. He said it was urgent so sadly we have to miss the meeting." I was happy at the thought of missing the meeting. I was also curious as to why grandpa Dickson, as my dad would call him, would all of a sudden call. He hadn't called us since my mothers death.
I tilted my head a little before slumping back into the chair. "What's the urgent matter?" I noticed my fathers' shoulders tense up before he relaxed, putting on a tight smile. "He didn't say."
I didn't quite believe him but I didn't say anything further and we continued in silence.
After a few long hours of driving in the middle of nowhere, we finally arrived at our destination.Grandpa Dicksons property was about an acre of land. It was massive even with the huge mansion sitting smack dab in the middle of no where. "I see he still has too much money." My father grumbled under his breath before getting out of the car and towards the enormous steel gate.
I watched as my father pressed the button for the intercom, a small voice coming out in which he replied to. After my father responded to the voice the gates made a loud creak before slowly opening.
He hopped back into the car and drove into the opened gates and towards the looming mansion. The exterior was elegant yet creepy. It gave me shivers down my spine.
The sun was setting behind the mansion and since it was big enough, it created a massive shadow. "I've never actually met Grandpa Dickson before right?" I mumbled to my father as we got out of the car.He looked at me and nodded. "Driving here is a mission and he was too lazy to come visit so you never met him. Only had conversations over the phone." I nodded, my eyes landing on the front door that was slowly being opened.
A head popped out, a very pale one. The male opened the door and stood outside to greet us. He looked about to be in his late 60's with very pale skin except for his rosy cheeks. He smiled revealing cute wrinkles to form at the corner of his eyes and cheeks.
"Hello, Welcome to the Dickson mansion."
