The mansion was huge outside but it might have been even more massive inside.
I wandered the halls, Barry the butler trailing behind me. I was beyond bored but I couldn't possible go back to the living room where my father and grandfather was.
The atmosphere was too serious and I didn't exactly know my way back there.I sighed softly stopping at another long hallway. "How many rooms does this place have?" I muttered under my breath. "It has about 50 rooms in total." I jumped back in surprise, forgetting that Barry was there. I looked at him wide eyed before forming an "O" with my mouth.
"How exactly did he become so rich?" I looked at the old man. He was about to respond but a phone started ringing which interrupted him. He took out, to my surprise, a brand new modeled phone.
I didn't think he'd even have a phone at his age."Yes hello Mr Dickson, what's the matter?" I stared at the male as he spoke with my grandfather over the phone. "Uh yes I understand." He ended the call and sighed. He looked back to me with a worried expression.
"I must leave you to explore yourself, Mr Dickson has called me for an urgent matter." I nodded watching the butler scurry away, vanishing into the next hallway.
I sighed running a hand through my knotted black hair. "Now let's actually go into the rooms." I mumbled reaching for a doorknob.
Despite wandering the place I hadn't gone into any of the rooms because Barry seemed to have steered me away from most of them.Just as I was about to open the door a loud noise was heard beside me. I looked to my left and found that a small pot had fallen over. I walked over to the end of the hall and bent down, picking up the pot and tried to pick up the scattered dirt and plants.
Just as I stood up I noticed in the corner of my eye something had whisked passed. I turned and found another long hallway but this time it only lead to a single door.
It was eerily dark since no windows were present in the hall so I got a bad feeling. Eventually my curiousness won over every other feeling and I ended up walking towards the door. As I began walking closer I noticed it had a different pattern than the other doors.
The other doors normally had flower like carvings but this door was covered in carvings that looked like thorn covered vines. I stopped in front of the door and lightly touched the carvings. It was certainly a beautiful door.
I reached for the handle and twisted it. I opened the door but was greeted with the sight of a full storage room. "That's boring." I muttered feeling a little bit disappointed.
I had expected since it had a different door that something exciting was inside. I sighed going to close the door before something roughly pushed me forward. I yelped in surprise as I lurched forward and into the room. Instead of hitting the ground like I'd expect I continued to fall, as if I was falling down a deep hole.
