As my marriage went on, I began to get less nervous around other guys. I didn't pay attention to them as much as I did back in high school. I guess you could said I was madly and stupidly in love. Though I did acknowledge an attractive man when I saw one, I didn't exactly get butterflies or stay starstruck. In my mind, Luke was the perfect one. I'm not saying he's not anymore but just that he isn't the only perfect looking guy out there."Hey nena," the green-eyed boy grinned. "Thought you weren't going to show up anymo- "
"Erick!" Christopher bellowed dramatically.
"No puede ser," Erick laughed incredulously. "Christopher Velez?"
"The one and only hermano."
The two began talking as if those seven years of not talking didn't happen. I took advantage of this and made my way to the aisle Zabdiel and I had gone to last time. My mom didn't have a specific favorite flower from what I can remember. She said she loved any kind; even handpicked ones with roots hanging from it. Her favorite color was still yellow but she always said that red was her second favorite.
Just a few feet away I spotted these beautiful red and yellow tulips but as I got closer, it lacked abundance. A few arrangements were displayed in front of the register but one caught my attention. Because of my ignorance, I didn't know what kind they were. All I knew was that they were lovely and that they were perfect for my mom.
"You like them?" Erick said, his voice jolting me from my admiration trance.
"They're beautiful," I breathlessly said. "What are they?"
"These," he said said pointing to the more fuller looking flowers. "These are Persian buttercups and these with the skinnier petals are Chrysanthemum's."
It left me in awe; his knowledge with flowers. Not only that but he carried a genuine smile when he spoke of them. I had never seen a guy so passionate about plants and flowers, it was a true first.
"I want these." I stated while gazing at them.
"Rosie, I thought I was going to choose? After all, it's my gift to your mom." Christopher piped in as he skimmed the row in front of him.
"Yes but I think I want these for myself."
"I'd love to mi reina but these are special made. These beautiful babies already have a Mrs."
I silently huffed but smiled lightly. "That's okay then."
"I can make you ones later though? I can send them to your home." Erick suggested and I think he felt bad.
"Sería para que su marido se enoje," Chris scoffed and almost mumbling but Erick heard.
"Wait," he stuttered slightly. "You're married?"
It's not like I was trying to hide it or that I was embarrassed by it but I didn't want him to know that I was married just yet. Self note: thank Christopher later.
"Uh yeah, I am." I said, pursing my lips from the awkwardness I was feeling.
"Oh wow," Erick snickered. "I didn't expect that at all. I thought Zabdi said you were single?"
Rolling my eyes at the vague memory, I shook my head. "He was joking. Three years already."
"Since it seems like your husband is the jealous type, how about you come by later this week? I'll arrange something better for you."
"Really?" I asked a bit too happy.
He chuckled, "yes really."
"I would love that. Thank you!"
