Chapter 19

Previously..

One warm, summer night, Evan, Avril, Craig, Charlie, Matt and Mark were all in Avril's house. Hanging out and messing around. Everything seemed perfect for the first time in years. Avril, who was snuggling with Evan wanted to get up and answer the door after the door bell rang. He stopped her and said;

"I'll get it, princess"

She smiled at the constant cute names he called her. As he got up, he kissed her forehead and headed for the door.
As Evan looked trough the peephole shivers ran down his spine and he immediatly froze.

"Babe, who is it?" Avril asked in a worrisome tone.

He looked over to everyone with a quite scared look on his face.

"Police"

Chapter 19

He slowly opened the door as the others looked in shock.

''Hello'' One of the officers said.

''Hello officer, how can I help you?''

''Is this the house of Lavigne Avril?''

''Yes''

''Is she home? Can we speak to her?''

''Yeah, of course.''

He turned away from the officers and walked towards Avril.

''They want to speak to you''

''Why?''

''I don't know but I will be next to you and everything will be okay. I promise''

She nervously nodded and went towards the door.

As they approached, she tugged his arm tightly and she refused to let go. Fear could clearly be seen in her eyes.

''Hello miss, we are here to inform you that you must stay alerted''

''Why? What's going on?'' Avril asked with a puzzled look mixed with fear

''We don't want to sound rude, but can we come in? You might want to sit trough this''

''Of course''

She said as she stood aside and let the two officers inside.

''Oh, so you're not alone''

''Yeah, is that a problem?''

''No, of course not''

''Okay, well sit down''

They sat on the couch and began talking.

''We are aware that you are familiar with a man named Colburn Jesse''

Her heart sank and her face turned pale. Avril's grip on Evan's arm became much tighter as he rubbed her back in comfort.

''Y-yes. What about him?''

''Two days ago, he escaped from jail and he had one man who heled him. Eventually, while escaping they activated the alarm set and we managed to catch the man who helped him. His name is Noah Harden. The detective was able to get some answers out of him.''

''What did he say?''

''The only thing you need to know right now is the reason why he escaped. Jesse claimed he wanted to find the woman he raped and make her ''pay'' for putting him in jail''

''No....'' Was all she managed to say before she collapsed into Evan's arms and began sobbing on his chest. The look on her friend's faces were no different. Shock, fear and confusion.

''Is there anything anything else?'' Evan asked.

''Yes, one more thing.''

Avril looked up as she wiped her tears.

''We suggest that you don't ever leave her alone. If she lives by herself, is there any chance she could stay with one of you for a little while?''

''That won't be a problem. I moved in with her a while ago'' said Evan

''Very well then. That is all we needed to do.''

''Thank you'' Avril said in a tone that was close to a whisper.

''Hey, can you follow them out? I don't think she wants me to let go'' Evan asked Craig

''Sure''

''Thanks a lot''

As he followed them out, one of the officers turned and said;

''Oh and if she does any interviews and they ask about him, tell her to just change the subject''

''I will. Thank you, again''

''We're just doing our job''

He smiled and closed the door.

''This is not happening'' She said as Evan rocked her back and forth

''Shh princess..It will be alright. I promise, nothing will happen to you. I won't let it''

Matt interrupted with a sarcastic cough.

''I hope by ''I'' you mean WE''

''Yeah but it's mostly me'' he chuckled

''Hey!'' They yelled, offended. But as a joke of course.

''Guys! Don't fight over me!'' Avril giggled

''They want to take you away from me!''

''No we don't!''

''You're all so childish! ''

''Maybe a little''

''Okay, let's put it this way. I love all of you, but I love Evan a bit more because he is my boy after all. Is that good?''

''No! We are your boys too!''

They laughed

''Oh come on!''

She stopped for a moment, thinking and then she said

''Okay, you're all my boys, but he is my sk8er boi''

''Fine we'll go with that!''

''Thank you''

She chuckled as they shared a group hug.

They really were her boys.
