"The Death of Toni Topaz" PART FOUR

Cheryl's POV

I just finished showering and sat on my bed when I got a call from Veronica.

Cheryl: (Answers call) Hey Veronica. What's up? (Hears sirens on call) Is that...sirens in the background?

Veronica: (panicking) Cheryl, you have to get to Pop's now. It's important.

Cheryl: I'll be there in five.

I hung up. I was worried. I can only think of one reason why there are sirens, police sirens outside Pop's.

I grabbed some clothes as quickly as I can and drove to Pop's.

When I got there, I climbed out of my car to see the doors to Pop's blocked off by police and the whole building taped off, with police cars everywhere and an ambulance. I looked around to see Veronica and Archie talking to Sheriff Jones. I walked over to them.

Veronica: Cheryl, there you are! (Hugs Cheryl).

Cheryl: (Pulls away from hug) What's going on?

Veronica: (Starts crying) I found my keys to the roulette cupboard so Archie and I opened it to find out what that awful smell was....

My eyes widened in horror. I popped my hand in my coat pocket to realise the keys weren't there.

FP: (Turns to them) We found Toni Topaz's body in the cupboard. The smell was her rotten flesh. I'm so sorry.

Tears welled up in my eyes.

Cheryl: D-do you know what happened to her?

FP: The autopsy will take place tomorrow morning. You can pop by and talk to Dr Curtle JR afterwards...if you want to.

Archie: (Turns to them) I'm very sorry, Cheryl...

Cheryl: (Shakes head is shock) No no no, it's okay Archie...

Veronica: And also...

V looked at me anxious.

Veronica: The keys are always provided in the drawer behind the bar. Only a co-worker could could get their hands on them. Not to mention we were the last people to see her alive, which means...(sighs) We're all suspects. Me, Archie, Betty, Reggie, Heather...even you.

I saw that Veronica was now shaking with fear.

Veronica: And it could be possible that...one of us is a killer.

I turned away. I was so scared. It was only some time before they find out that I killed Toni.

Sheriff Jones walked back over to us.

FP: I'm sorry to say this but...Veronica Lodge, Archie Andrews and Cheryl Blossom. You are suspects for the murder of Toni Topaz. We need you to come down to the station to give a statement.

The three of us got handcuffed and lead into a police van. On our way to the station, we picked up Betty and Reggie too, as they also got handcuffed and lead into the van.

Reggie: (Sitting down) What the hell is going on?

Archie: We're suspects for the murder of Toni Topaz.

Betty: WHAT?! Toni is d-dead?

Veronica: (Sighs) Turns out the horrible smell coming from the roulette cupboard was her dead body rotting in there.

Reggie: And WE'RE suspects?! Why?!

Veronica: We would be the only ones to get access to the cupboard keys. And we were the last people to see her alive, considering she went missing the night she got banned from Pop's and the speakeasy.
