"The Death of Toni Topaz" PART TWO

Heather's POV

I had a gig at La Bonne Nuit tonight for Ronnie. The song I picked out for tonight was dedicated to how I was feeling right now.

Broken.

Unloved.

Alone.

I was sitting at the bar having a drink when Veronica called me on stage.

Veronica: (Talking through the microphone) It is an honour to welcome the sweetest nightingale up onto the stage of La Bonne Nuit once again...it's Heather *Your Surname*!

The crowd applauded as I entered the stage.

Veronica: (Walking off of the stage) You'll smash it tonight, like normal.

The lights dimmed over me and the music started...

I looked up at the door to see none other than Toni and Cheryl, walking down the stairs. They both stared at me.

Toni: (Rolls eyes) You have GOT to be kidding me!

Then, Cheryl and I both made eye contact. The rest of the song, I stared right into her eyes. I wanted her to know that she made me feel this way.

By this part of the song, tears were streaming down our faces, and we never broke eye contact once.

The song ended in silence. Everyone was staring at Toni as her face was bursting with rage.

Toni: (Shouts at Heather) You just don't get it, do you?! SHE DOESN'T LOVE YOU! (Sniggers) I'd be surprised if anyone did. Why can't you just let Cheryl be happy?! She never needed you in her life so just leave!

By the time she finished her final sentence, I was halfway storming off of the stage, crying. I barged through the crowd and walked upstairs to Pop's.

I genuinely couldn't be around them both anymore. I had had enough.

Cheryl's POV

Toni: ...She never needed you in her life so just leave!

Heather pushed past me and ran upstairs to the diner. I honestly can't blame her. Toni was acting so horrible to her.
