Colby watched as Sam slept peacefully on the hospital bed. He was pale and his eyes had dark circles around them from no sleep. This is the first time Colby had seen Sam sleep in days.
He was always awake and when Colby would ask why, he would say he was thinking or he wasn't tired. Colby would wake up with Sam awake and go to bed with him awake. He was scared.
Sam wasn't getting better and he wasn't upset or angry. He seemed neutral about the situation as his illness took over him.
Colby looked down and cried. He cried for the first time as he realized that Sam wouldn't make it much longer if he didn't try to fight.
He cried because he didn't want to lose his Bestfriend. He didn't want to lose the love of his life. He had plans of marrying Sam, of starting a family, staying together for the rest of their long lives.
"Please. Don't." Sam whispered from next to Colby. Colby looked over, tears streaming down his face.
"I can't lose you." Colby whimpered as he took Sam's hand in his. Sam let a tear slip down his cheek as he watched his boyfriend cry.
"I don't want you to be sad." Sam said as Colby places his free hand on the side of Sam's face.
"I won't be if you fight." Sam sighed and looked up at the ceiling, not wanting to look at Colby.
"I can't." His words came out like knives to Colby. He felt like someone was stabbing his heart a million times. He looked at his boyfriend with sadness and disbelief.
"Why?" Sam finally looked into Colby's eyes and he regretted it. How could he not fight for him. He tried and put more effort into fighting then anything else, but it was too much. He was getting weaker from fighting the illness. He didn't want to stop fighting, but he had to.
"I'm too tired." He said and he watched his boyfriend breakdown.
"I want to more then anything. For you, but I just can't." Sam said while Colby sat down next to him on the bed.
"I love you, Sam. I will never stop loving you. You are my life and I can't lose you right now. I need you with me. I have nothing without you. Sam and Colby vs. the world, remember?" Colby felt himself becoming empty. Sam smiled through his tears at the last sentence and nodded.
"Sam and Colby vs. the world." Colby smiled and kissed Sam like he wouldn't see him ever again since there was a chance that he wouldn't.
"I will keep fighting for you Colby Brock." Colby smiled and kissed Sam's forehead.
"I love you."
