The days went by and not a single word was spoken between the best friends. Sure, they would send pictures back and forth through Snapchat, but it wasn't what it used to be.

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. The summer went by and they didn't hang out once. The blonde was always busy with his new best friend, Jake.

Jake used to be Colby's best friend when they were younger, but now they are in high school and Sam has changed. He cares about popularity and fitting in, which has led him to drop friends who don't give him that boost.

Colby remembers how close they were for what was almost 9 years. He should've seen this coming, but when it came he felt nothing more then sadness. He would sit and cry as he watched his best friend grow closer to someone else.

They would talk about girls and who they thought was the hottest, but Colby always had a crush on Sam. The way he would laugh at everything Colby would say or even just the way he would talk about different subjects. His smile was so bright and he was perfect in Colby's eyes. Colby would never tell him though because he wasn't sure how he would react. Now he isn't sure if it would've mattered if he told him or not.

So as Colby walked next to Sam and his other friend Corey in the hall, he watched as Sam turned away from them to talk to Jake.

"You should tell him how you feel?" Corey said while looking at Colby's change in mood. Corey was the only person Colby felt like he could trust everything with, so of course he told him how he felt about Sam.

"Which part?" Colby said sighing heavily. Corey patted his brunette friend in the back seeing him smile slightly.

"All of it. He deserves to know that he is hurting you and who knows maybe he likes you too." Colby felt like crawling into a dark hole and dying there.

"I wouldn't want him to get mad and plus, all he talks about is girls. There's no way that he's into me." Corey shrugged and punched Colby's arm lightly as he walked into his next class.

"You won't know if you don't try." Colby laughed lightly and looked over to see Sam with a confused look on his face. He realized that Jake had gone to his class so now it was just them since they were going to the same place.

"What were you two talking about?" Sam asked as they came closer to their math class. Colby looked at the floor and shrugged.

"Just some new drink Corey likes." Sam nodded and looked ahead of him. Colby decided that it was time he take his chance and ask Sam to hang out, since it had been so long.

"Are you doing anything tonight?" Colby asked nervously. The last thing he should be is nervous, but there he was.

"Oh yeah. Jake and I are going to see a movie. It's going to be awesome!" I felt my chest tighten as I remembered the date. The new Avengers movie came out today. Sam said they would see that together. He would have to go see Endgame with his brother Corey now.

"Cool, well I'll talk to you when class is over." Colby said as he went to his seat. Sam nodded and sat in his assigned seat across the room. Of course he changed his mind. Because Colby wasn't Sam's best friends anymore, so why even bother.

After that Colby didn't. He didn't talk to Sam after class or for the rest of the day. He went home with tears in his eyes. His family didn't ask what was wrong because they already knew. Situations like these had become all to familiar in the Brock household.

With no plans for the evening, Colby wiped his tears and started in his homework. No one bothered him because they knew the young boy liked the be alone at times like these. Talking about the situation only made him feel worse.

So, when his phone buzzed, he wasn't eager to check who it was. But when it kept buzzing he had no choice if wanted to get anything done.

What he saw not only confused him, but worried him. It was multiple texts from Corey saying 'don't be mad'. He had no idea what he meant, but his questions were soon answered when there was a knock on the door.

Colby ran downstairs only to see his mom at the door first. When she opened the door Colby and his mother were both shocked to see Sam standing there with a worried expression.

"Oh hi, Sam. What brings you here?" She asked as Sam looked around the room from the door. Colby was out of sight, but he listened to everything that was being said.

"I'm looking for Colby. Is he here?" Mrs. Brock had a frown on her face as she remembered the pain that this boy caused her son.

"Yes, but I don't think he's in the mood to talk." Sam nodded sadly as he watched my mom go to shut the door, but I stepped into view and stopped her.

"No it's fine. He can come in." Colby's mother have him a questioning look to which he only nodded. Sam walked in and followed behind Colby. As they sat on his bed Colby let a tear slip.

"What are you here? What happened to your movie?" Sam sighed and looked over at his friend.

"Corey said that you needed to talk to me. More like I needed to talk to you, which is right." Colby laced his fingers together and played with the rings he wore.

"You've changed." Is all the brunette said as he looked at the older boy. Sam nodded and looked anywhere but at Colby.

"I know and I regret it. I don't regret being friends with Jake, but I regret not being there for you and making you feel like I didn't care." Sam said while trying to keep from breaking down.

"So why did you?" Sam let the tears fall. The ones he had been holding back for what seemed like years.

"Because I love you Colby. I talk about girls because you're straight and I didn't want you to know. I hang out with Jake to try and get rid of my feeling because I know you don't feel the same. I kept this secret for so long because I didn't want to ruin our friendship, but I ended up doing that anyway." Colby couldn't help but laugh at what he just heard. This can't be real none of it can. Sam looked down embarrassed as he saw Colby laughing. He knew this would happen and it felt worse then he imagined it.

"You're oblivious, you know that?" Sam looked up confused as Colby smiled and leaned in to capture Sam's lips with his.

Both felt the butterflies erupt inside them as they finally kissed after years. Colby put his hands on Sam's waist as Sam put his hands on either side of Colby's face. When they pulled away both boys burst out laughing. This felt like a dream to both.

"I love you too, idiot. I always have."
