Rin's POV
52 years after I faked my death to come here, to Gahenna, it was time for me to become a full demon, and a demon king. Satan reassured me that releasing my powers wouldn't harm me although it could overwhelm me. I was nervous despite this and the fact that each of my brothers had reassured me that they were there for me.
Ilbis and Amaimon were in my room as the tailors put the finishing touches on my coronation suit. It looked similar to my brothers' ones, though each were in different colors. For me it was black, black dress shoes and black dress pants with gold trim. Completing the look was a black, double breasted jacket with gold trim and a simple crown with jewels the color of my eyes.
A sharp tug on the bottom of my jacket brought me back to the present as the tailor gave me a final inspection to make sure my clothing fit properly. Seeming satisfied they excused themselves and departed, leaving me with my brothers.
"What did you feel when you became a demon king?" They knew I had met when the power had hit them, like if they were in pain or not.
"It felt odd, it didn't hurt but you were aware of the new powers flowing into you. It left you with the feeling that you were humming with power and your aura was large and not concealed, causing those at the coronation who were less powerful to kneel before you. When we became demon kings, only Satan and our older brothers that were already demon kings remained standing," Amaimon replied as Ilbis nodded his agreement. Not two seconds after this, a knock sounded on my door.
"Come in." Upon command, the door opened to reveal a small page.
"Your Majesties, the 6th and 7th demon kings are requested to join the other demon kings. They must also change into their coronation attire, as per His Majesty Satan." The boy waited for Ilbis and Amaimon.
"We'll see you out there. Don't worry, it'll be fine. We're there with you," Iblis said as they departed, closing the door afterwards.
With nothing else to do, I carefully sat on my bed, so as not to wrinkle or mess the suit up, and pulled out a manga. Reading them always calmed my nerves, as I discovered.
Around ten minutes later, another knock on my door radiated through the room. Placing my manga beside me, I strode to the door and opened it to reveal the same page as earlier.
"Your Majesty, it is time for your coronation. Please follow me." I complied, following as the page led me towards the second floor balcony, used for royal public events due to its lack of railings. He stopped me from entering, asking me to wait for Satan to beckon to me.
"My son, the rightful heir to my throne, the only one to have blue flames, was lost to us for over a millenia as the exorcists kept him hidden from us. 52 short years ago, he returned home after being persecuted for his heritage by exorcists in training. In these years, my son has learned our history and has worked to become a great ruler. He is now ready to accept his titles of the Crown Prince and 9th Demon King," he beckoned to me subtly, "and now please welcome Rin, my son and holder of the blue flames."
As I confidently strode out, cheers and applause welcomed me.
"When Rin was held captive by the exorcists, his power was sealed within this sword," he pulled out Kurikara, "and his heritage was kept secret from him. This sword made him only half demon. Now, we will shatter this sword and let Rin embrace his full demon abilities."
"Ready son?" He whispered. I nodded in response. He then opened Kurikara and I allowed a small amount of flames on me, some on my shoulders and my flame horns, just enough to show that Kurikara is like a lock to my powers. Raising the sword above his head, he brought it down with every ounce of strength in him on an unbreakable Gahennian metal sheet, shattering it.
I fell into a kneeling position as my power flooded into me and a pain erupted in my back. I bit back a scream as something forced its way out of my back. When the pain faded I quickly wiped my tears of pain off my face and rose. The attending audience gasped at something behind me. Curious, I looked over my shoulder to see a pair of beautiful wings sprouting from my back, starting as a navy blue, the same color as my hair, and gradually fading into the color of my flames, a brilliant blue.
"As you can see, my son, Rin, possesses wings the same as mine, proving, along with the flames and his appearance, that he is the rightful heir." The audience's eyes widened upon seeing the similarity between Satan and I, and probably wondering why they didn't see it beforehand.
"Now, he is ready to become the 9th Demon King." Satan walked over to me and I kneeled, already knowing from my brothers what he would do. He moved his hands, stopping when they were over my head. He started chanting quietly in Gahennian, the demon's language, as his hands began to glow a blue color. They brightened and he touched my head.
Power coursed through my veins, my body humming with the power, and I was unable to move. It seemed like hours or even days passed, when in reality it was mere minutes.
He stopped chanting as the glow from his hands disappeared. I rose once more, this time on shaky legs. Shadows reached towards me and things began to subtly float. Everyone, including my brothers, was kneeling and Satan was bowing due to my aura. I concentrated on hiding it, absorbing it into myself, until everyone was able to stand once more. I then imagined locking it within me and looked to my father.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present Rin, Crown Prince of Gahenna and Demon King of Shadows and Balance," Satan announced.
A gala followed in which I was the honored guest. Until it ended, I mostly stuck with Egyn, Amaimon, Lucifer, or Azazel. Iblis, Astaroth, Mephisto, and Beelzebub were too busy flirting.
