Chapter 4

Leopardpaw

I'm finally an Apprentice! Thought Leopardpaw, sitting beside Violetpaw. This is so great, we're gonna explore the territory, and we're gonna hunt for our clan, I'm gonna be the best warrior! "Violetpaw!"
She heard Leopardtail yell to her Apprentice.

Willowwhisker was sharing tongues with Leopardtail. She called to Leopardpaw and they made their way to their mentors.

"Yes, Willowwhisker?" She asked politely. "Me and Leopardtail decided to give a tour of the territory." Willowwhisker said to Leopardpaw and Violetpaw. She whisked her tail happily.

Willowwhisker stared into the trees at the entrance and started walking towards them.
Suddenly Leopardtail bounded into the trees. And Willowwhisker followed.

Violetpaw raced after them and Leopardpaw chased after all three of them. She relished the feeling of wind through her fur.

Leopardpaw raced ahead of their mentors and went headfirst into Willowwhisker's tail. Leopardtail pauses and tasted the air. "Can you smell that?" She asked Violetpaw. She tasted the air and the scent of dusty stone hit her tongue.

"It's smells like a canyon." Said Violetpaw. "Close enough. It's The the Scent Of Ridgeclan. This is our border with them. Your not allowed to cross them." Said Leopardtail.

Oh! No wonder it smells like that. Then, a lithe shape emerged from the ground. Violetpaw let out a surprised gasp. "Who's that?" She whispered to Willowwhisker. "Ridgeclan warrior" she growled back.

"What are you doing so close to the border?" Snarled the warrior, arching her back. "We're showing our apprentices around the territory. Now, why are you here?" Challenged Willowwhisker.

"I smelled Wingclan scent and prey scent on our side of the border. I followed it to find you four standing here." Said the Ridgeclan warrior

"It must've drifted over the border." Shrugged Leopardtail. "Shut up!" Said the warrior. Violetpaw's neck fur began to bristle. "Oh, look a terrifying little tiny Apprentice. What are you going to do? Clean my bedding?"

Violetpaw tried to think of a retort. "I don't think I could clean clean out your bedding alone. Every Apprentice must be knocked unconscious by the smell of it." She said to the Ridgeclan warrior.

The warrior snarled, then gave a mighty leap and landed straight on the apprentices back, digging her claws in. My first fight! She thought excitedly.

"I'll rip your pelt off, mange-pelt!" Snarled the ridgeclan warrior. Leopardpaw braced herself to leap, but Leopardtail slapped her tail down in front of her. "This is Violetpaws fight" She Mewed firmly.

Leopardpaw gave a pleading look to Willowwhisker but she was watching the fight with interest. Violetpaw swiped at the warrior's muzzle. She leaped back in time and While Violetpaw was bringing her paw down to stable herself the warrior lunged at her.

Her claws raked down her side as she swiftly passed Violetpaw. she whipped around to confront her on the other side but she was behind her. She leaped onto her back and pinned down Violetpaw.

I'm trapped! There's nowhere to go. She shot a look at Leopardtail, pleading her to help. But she shook her head this is your fight she imagined her saying.

Stupid warriors! Suddenly she sprouted beautiful dark purple wings speckled with white, they were faded as if they were cats from the stars. My early-bloomers!
