AN: This story came as a request from Senkan_Yamato. With a name like that I half expected a request for Yamoto, but here's one for Kumano. I hope you enjoy it.

Heart to Heart

It's another peaceful day here at the naval base. For once I haven't been swamped with work so I've ended up with some much needed free time. Thus here I am, sitting in Mamiya's and enjoying a refreshing cup of iced tea along with a certain JK-styled heavy cruiser.

"Say, Admiral. Are you in love with anyone?" The green-haired girl ask without even looking up from her phone screen.

Choking on my drink at Suzuya's sudden question, I end up spraying the cool deliciousness all over my companion's face.

"Wh-wh-wh-what are you saying?! Of course I'm not!"

Which is a filthy lie, but there's no way I'm going to admit that to Suzuya of all people. There'll be no end to the teasing if she finds out.

After taking the time to wipe off her tea drenched face, the heavy cruiser eyes me down with a suspicious look. "Seriously, Admiral? You're gonna have to lie better than that to trick me. So spill it! Who's the lucky gal?"

"Well that's..." I trail off as I pull my cap down to try to hide my surely reddening face. "I can't tell..."

"Hmmmmm?" Suzuya stares me down for a few more seconds before sighing and shaking her head. "Fine, fine. I'm not gonna pry anymore. Looks like Kumano's got her work cut out for her."

"Huh? What do you mean?'

"That girl's got a seriously huuuge crush on you, Admiral! She's almost always taking about you every night in our room." The heavy cruiser explains as she takes a bite of her parfait.

For real?! Why is it now that all of a sudden I'm finding out so many of my subordinates are in love with me?!

"Ugh..." Groaning, I face plant onto the table.

If I had a physical list of the number of things giving me headaches on the daily, then it'd be long enough to cover the training area for the carriers.

Grinning, Suzuya reaches across the table and pats my head. "Hey now, Admiral, cheer up! You just found out that another adorable girl's fallen head over heels for you! At this rate you'll end up with a harem."

"Why, this is in intriguing conversation. Would you care to elaborate, Suzuya?"

I raise my head to see that a somewhat annoyed looking Kumano had at some point appeared next to her sister ship.

"Kumano!" Suzuya's eyes instantly light up at the sight of the brunette as she leaps to her feet and envelops Kumano in a crushing hug. "Whelp, I just remembered I've got something I need to take care of, so have some fun you two!"

Before either Kumano or I could get a single word out, Suzuya dashes out of the cafe, but not before snatching up her parfait.

The brown haired heavy cruiser lets out an exasperated sigh as she takes a seat across from me. "My apologies for Suzuya's behavior, Admiral."

"Ahaha... It's fine. Nobody here treats me like a proper commanding officer anyways..." Before I can depress myself with that line of thinking, I decide to change the subject. "But, um... About what Suzuya said about you liking me... Is it true?"

Kumano nods with a smile as she holds her hand over her heart. "I suppose there is no longer any reason in hiding the fact. Yes. I hold romantic feelings for you. In other words, I love you."

My face heats up at the heavy cruiser's blatant confession and I have to tear my eyes away from the girl's soft, yet passionate gaze.

"I-I see..."

Calm down, me! I can't afford to get flustered at every advance any of my ship girls may make towards me! If this keeps happening then I'll die of a heart attack before long!

"Oh dear. Is that all you have to say, Admiral? You wound me," Kumano says with playful giggle. "However there is no need to worry over giving me an immediate reply. I shall wait until you are ready."

Standing up from her seat, Kumano circles around the table, trailing her fingers across its surface before coming to a stop next to me. She grasps my hand in hers before bringing it up to her lips.

"Please, do take your time thinking it over," she says with a smile and a wink.

My heart is sent into a flutter as she nonchalantly leaves the cafe.

Just how many more of  my subordinates are in love with me?
