He had won.
He couldn't believe it but he had won. It was both terrible and great.
But Alyona was no where to be found.
He really wanted to see her reaction. Just to rub it on her face that he had won and he still had a place in the team.
After searching extensively for her, he decided that he had had enough and returned to his room to get his stuff and drive to the hotel.
He stopped in his tracks though when he heard her voice in his room.
"Yes, father, of course. I know, but you have to understand that I only had in mind the best interests of the corporation."
Seb flinched. He had never heard her talking so sweetly to anyone. Where was the she-devil?
"No, I never did anything to appease anyone else. You have taught me well, I know that feelings are not for us." There was a pause there. "I know, father. And you have to know that he means nothing. I'll always put first the corporation... I did sign him for two more years, but that means nothing. He's nothing but a pawn, I could never, ever do anything to displease you. You know that."
Seb shivered.
"There's no need, father. No need to make a scene. I can manage him myself... I know you will... Yes, I know. I'm sorry. I won't do it again without seeking your council first."
Seb decided to open the door silently.
"Yes, alright. I love you too, dad."
She hang up and sighed as she turned around and stopped as she looked at Seb who had just walked into the room and was closing the door behind him.
"How long have you been there?" She asked and pushed her phone to her pocket.
He shrugged and leant against the door. "Long enough."
"Okay. I was-"
"What are you doing here?"
She flinched. "Oh," she said, waiting to be asked something far worse. "I wanted to congratulate you, I thought it best I wait here."
He nodded. "I was searching for you. But apparently your dad-"
"He's not my dad." She snapped, she had been clearly shaken from the call.
"What do you mean?" He moved towards her, standing before her.
"Nothing. Forget I said anything. Congratulations on the win, and the contract. My father approved it too."
"That's good, but something is wrong. You're never that timid when I'm around."
"You're not the centre of my universe, Seb. We all have our ups and downs. It just happened now that you're here."
"But-"
"Have you developed a soft spot for the she-devil, Seb?"
"I never called you that."
"Ah, please. That's how everyone's calling me."
"Maybe, you'd try to be nicer to people."
She chuckled. "I don't think so. I don't owe them anything to be nice to them."
"Gods, you are terrible and I thought we're having a moment."
"Really?"
"Yes, I remember. 'Feelings are not for us.'"
"See, you are learning." She said, obviously uneasy about the fact he had heard everything.
"Oh, am I?" He took a step closer. "What am I learning exactly? You were pretty miserable when I heard you talking to daddy dearest. What's going on?"
"Nothing."
"It must be bad. Otherwise, you wouldn't have been that silent."
She groaned and pushed a finger against his chest. "Don't try to provoke me. You want to know to make fun of me. I am not giving in to a decieving son of a bitch."
"Do you even have friends?"
"I don't need friends, they make me weak and vulnerable. I find it easier to play if I have nothing to lose."
"What about your family then?"
"My family?" She chuckled. "Don't talk about things you don't know."
She pushed away and went to the door.
"Alyona, I didn't say we are finished here." He growled at her and tilted his head.
She snapped around. "Listen, you don't do that. That's not the kind of relationship we have. I want you to always know who has the power between us." Her voice peaked. "And it's not you."
"Jesus, you are mentally ill." He shouted back
"Why the fuck are you even trying to talk to me if you are so disgusted by my mentally ill state?"
"Because despite the fact that you've been a bitch, I like you."
Seb's voice echoed through the room. And Alyona shivered. She took a step away and shook her head.
"Don't. Don't like me." She turned and opened the door. "If you need me for anything, I'll be in my office."
She left.
Seb shook his head. He couldn't believe he liked her. He was such a stupid man.
He sighed and went about the room getting his stuff in his backpack.
