Royal AU! Prince! Roman, Prince! Virgil
Virgil leaned against a railing, a black and purple patchwork cloak flowing in the air as he watched the horizon slowly turning into a night sky with purples and pinks across the sky. Virgil would not normally be doing this, but, since he was brought over the seas to marry a woman, named Elizabeth Golden, of course he was trying to avoid her. They both agreed that they only liked each other as friends, agreeing when the announcements for the arrangements of a future marriage was announced to the public, they would both decline.
However, Virgil did not expect to fall in love her brother, Roman Golden. He has semi-long sun bleached hair with streaks of auburn, from all of the adventures he has gone on, green eyes, and very tan skin, practically glowing whenever Virgil saw him. Virgil could admit, he was very attractive, but the very first time he met him, he heavily disliked him. Roman was too loud and boisterous for his liking, being very arrogant to the point of actually arguing with Virgil that he was the most beautiful prince in all of the land when Virgil tried to get under his skin. Luckily, Virgil had Elizabeth by his side backing him up, doing playful banter between all of them.
Roman has a twin brother named Remus, and he would always talk to Virgil about some of the most morbid things, but, according to his siblings, this was a normal occurence. Remus, however, was openly gay in his family, having explained that he's had sex with multiple men and women, and found being with men was more favorable to him. Of course, the king and queen were more than furious hearing about this, but, it was more about him having sex with multiple people than being gay, they could care less about that.
Virgil continued looking out at the sky, a heavy crown on top of his head, reminding him that he has duties as a future king, concluding that he is an only child. Virgil took off the crown, staring at the silver band with polished amethyst jewels embedded in it, the emblem of the Tyndros Kingdom being carved into the very front of it. He sighed, slumping over the railing, staring down at the ground that was hundreds of feet below. He was in the highest tower of the palace, being told by Elizabeth that no one comes up here, so he could be by himself for awhile until he's found.
Virgil heard the door open, snapping him out of his thoughts, turning towards the door, Roman emerging from the doorway, looking just as shocked as Virgil. "Oh, Prince Virgil, pleasant seeing you here," Roman said, walking across the balcony to where Virgil stood. Virgil simply nodded back, fiddling with his crown instead of wearing it like Roman was. Roman's was a lot more Royal like, having a golden band with red rubies and green emeralds being embedded instead of amethysts, and the emblem of the Eagle Kingdom.
Roman and Virgil sat in silence, a sort of tension in the air. They both had feelings for each other, but, obviously, could not figure out how to express those feelings without their plan backfiring them in the face. Roman statted humming a tune, glancing over to Virgil, smiling softly as he caught Virgil's attention. "The sun is nearly gone, the lights are turning on, a silver line that stretches to the sea..." Roman sang this softly, gesturing out to village that sat below the palace, the sea not to far from them. "We've stumbled on a view, tailored made for two, what a shame. Those two are you and me," Roman sang a bit more, causing Virgil to raise his brow.
Is Roman serious? Singing at a time like this. Virgil rolled his eyes, looking back out to the sea, noticing candles were lighting up, indicating it was night time. "Some other girl and guy would love this swirling sky, but there's only you and I, and we've got, no shot." Roman frowned as he said this, knowing fully well that Virgil would not return his feelings, especially when he acted like such as jerk when he first met the darker prince. Virgil's shoulders deflated when he heard Roman say this, getting increasingly annoyed with Roman and him staying here. This was supposed to be quiet time for himself!
"This could never be, you're not the type for me, and there's not a spark in sight... what a waste of a lovely night..." Roman frown depend, glancing over at Virgil, surprised to see an annoyed look on his face instead of an agreeing one. What was that about?
"You say there's nothing here? Well, let's make something clear, I think I'll be the one to make the call!" "You'll call?" Roman said this in hopefulness, smiling softly at Virgil who was now a slight pink, shaking a little. "And though you look so cute, in your polyester suit," Roman cut in, saying it's wool, making Virgil roll his eyes, and saying sarcastically, "you're right, I'd never fall for you at all." Roman's heart sank a little, but recognized the sarcasm, hope coming back to him.
"And maybe this appeals to someone not in heels," Virgil referenced to someone who was in a lower economic class, feeling a bit of pity for those people. His kingdom wasn't in the greatest shape either, which is why this marriage is happening in the first place. "Or to any guy who feels, but there's some chance for romance," Virgil finally spit it out, feeling anxiety bubble his chest, quickly blurting out something else. "But I'm frankly feeling nothing." "Is that so?" Roman asked softly, quirking an eyebrow as he noticed that Virgil's face looked a little bit darker in the moonlight, noticing it was redder than usual in the faint light of the match that he lit.
"Or it could be less than nothing..." Virgil muttered, looking away, having put down hi crown to wring his hands together or mess with his cloak strings, anxiety filling hom to the brim. "Is that so? So, you agree?" Roman muttered, heart racing as he realized that Virgil actually did share feelings with him, tentatively grabbing Virgil's hands and holding them in his own. "That's right..." Virgil muttered, melting a little at Roman's kind actions. Roman pulled Virgil into his chest, giving him a hug, the both muttering a sentence. "What a waste of a lovely night..." As Virgil said this, he kissed Roman's cheek and ran off into the castle, fairly embarrassed by everything that just happened.
