Virgil grunted as he was tackled to the ground by one of his teammates, Patton Hearth, during football practice. Patton giggled and got off of him, holding his hand out to help Virgil up. Virgil rolled his eyes and took his hand, jumping up from the ground. Now, you may be thinking, 'Oh god, why is the thin, scrawny, emo playing football?' Well, Virgil was quite muscular and felt that taking up a sport that was quite physical would help in easing his depression and anxiety. Virgil huffed once the whistle was blown into, signaling that practice was over and that the coach wanted a huddle before everyone left. "Alright team, let's keep this up at our game tomorrow. I want all of you drinking lots of water and icing those knees and ankles of yours. Now, go home, team!" Coach Dex shouted, giving the same spiel that he does before every game.
Virgil wandered over to the benches where his stuff was, taking off his shoulder pads and shirt, thanking God that it was getting cooler. Virgil remembered that he had a tech support meeting after this for Drama and whined to himself, heading to the showers faster. Virgil sometimes hated the fact that he joined football and didn't just stick with Drama, but, the more activities you have on your transcript, the better, right? Virgil stripped down and started to take a brief shower, making sure to get most of the sweat out of his skin before he got dressed in his regular clothes. He turned off the shower, wiping himself down with a towel and got dressed, hurrying out of the locker room to the stage for Drama.
Virgil quietly entered the room, knowing that they had already started, his bulky gear clanking against each other, everyone briefly looking towards him then back to the guy on stage. He looked towards the head Stage Producer, Logan Berry, Patton's boyfriend, who gave a brief nod towards him, continuing to talk. Virgil placed his gear in a corner, sitting next to Roman Golden, one of the main actors who never missed a meeting or rehearsal, whether it was for techies or the actors. "What'd I miss?" Virgil whispered to Roman, noticing a piece of paper was in Roman's hands, who quickly folded it and put it in his Lettermen jacket. Weird. "Just some briefing on what needs to be done this year and who he wants on the team. Your name was in there as head tech support, by the way," Roman nonchalantly said, making Virgil huff, crossing his arms.
Yes, this was a huge honor, especially for a senior, but, he was also doing football, and those two things don't mix well. Of course, football was only a fall sport, but, a lot of productions are done between all of them. Roman snorted softly at Virgil's huff, giving a pat to his shoulder in reassurance. "You'll be able to do Football and Drama, don't worry," Roman said, fiddling with the piece of paper, glancing down at his watch for the time. Virgil raised his brow as he noticed this, turning back into Logan's small lecture, anxiety pumping through his veins. Was he cut out for this?
Towards the end of the meeting, Roman had grabbed his stuff and exited the room, leaving Virgil even more confused. Roman never left a meeting early. Unless it could be for a doctor's appointment or something. Virgil sighed softly, nodding off as Logan finished. It was around 4 PM, keeping the meeting nice and short. Then Virgil remembered that Cheerleaders were being given positions today. He sneered, remembering how snarky all of them can be, along with the Cheer Captain, who had achieved the title every time since freshman year.
