Chapter 3

Lilac's POV

I walked down the stairs after waking up at 6:00am and I don't even have school cause it's summer and I don't have to work because it's Saturday so I don't even know why I woke up this early. I was feeling pretty good for the first time in a while.

No one was in the living room which didn't surprise me because it was 6am. But what did surprise me was Steve sitting on the counter eating chocolate cake. Steve never woke up early so I wondered why he was awake.
"Morning, Lilac" Steve smiled with cake in his teeth
"Mornin', why you up so early"
"I could ask you the same"
"Touche"
I opened the fridge and got out some orange juice and cut myself a slice of cake.
"So why you up?" Steve spoke up
"I asked you first"
"I slept on the couch"
"That doesn't explain why you're up"
"I couldn't sleep, so why are you up?"
"I actually felt happy for once"
"Lilac..." Steve said in a sad voice
"It's a good thing"
"Yeah I know but he really hurt you"
"Well at least he didn't break me" I said walking away
"He still hurt you"
"Yeah well, what happened happened"
Thankfully Steve got the hint that I didn't want to talk about it anymore.

I sat down on the couch and Steve sat down next to me and I put on the tv and of course Mickey Mouse was on. I finished my food and I guess Steve did too so I took his plate in with mind and washed the dishes. After I was done washing the dishes Darry walked down stairs.
"Hey Lilac, hey Steve"
"Mornin" Steve and I both said.
"Why you guys up so early. You two hiding that you're a thing or something"
"No" we both said way to quickly I started to blush and looked at Steve and saw him blushing but I didn't think anything of it.
"It was just a joke. But now I Don't think it was just a joke" I didn't know what to respond with so I kept my mouth shut and so did Steve. I'm pretty sure everyone in the gang knows I have a huge crush on Steve but maybe Steve doesn't.

~time skip~

The whole gang finally woke up. And I guess that Darry had to work this saturday cause he was no where to be found.
"I'm bored wanna go for a walk"
"Sure, I got nothin better to do" Dally said
"I'll join" Steve said
"Me too" Soda said
"Johnny, Pony, Two-Bit, you guys wanna come" I said
"Nah, we're going to the movies"
"Okay, see ya later then" I said
We walked out the door. And Steve walked next to me.
"I got something to ask you" he said.
"Shoot"
"Well I've liked ya for a long time" I looked at Steve kinda in shock "and I was wondering if ya would, y'know maybe wanna be my girl, If you say no I'd understand"
"Yes" I said really quickly
"I never knew you liked me like that" I said
"Well surprise" he held out his hand and I gladly took it. But I started to wonder if it was too soon after the whole Ryan thing. Soda and Dally caught up with us and Soda said "finally" and Dally said "Steve ya finally can get some" and that earned a slap from all of us. "Ow Jesus I was joking" he said chuckling. I thought to myself 'I love these weirdos' and 'I'm so glad they're my family'. I pulled Steve closer to me and sped walked away from Soda and Dal cause I wanted to talk to him real quick.
"What is it, Lilac" he said
"I just want to make sure you are never gonna turn into a Ryan and break my heart cause I can't deal with that again"
"I promise I will never hurt you"
"Thank you"
"And you need to know we are here for you we're not like Ryan the gang and I love ya just in different ways" did he just say he loved me.
"I didn't mean to say that, well I did but I didn't"
"It's okay Steve I think I'm in love with you too. I just don't know if this is going to fast. I mean we've known each other all our lives but we just started dating"
"We can slow down if ya want" Just then Dal jumped on my back. I fell to the ground and Dal landed on top of me "ow fuck, really Dal"
He stood up while I just lied on the ground.
"That's gonna leave a bruise" Soda said
Steve reached out his hand for me. I grabbed it and he pulled me up.
"Wanna piggyback ride" he said. I just nodded my head. And I jumped onto his back and went back home. When we were home no one was home except for Darry and I think he saw me on Steve's back out the window so I jumped off of him. And then I went up to Soda and said "do you have my back" and he replied with always. I really had some explaining to do.
