We made it to work on time, somehow. We walked inside and put up the open sign. Since no one was there and there were no cars to fix. We all were at the cash register. I was sitting on the counter behind the cash register with Soda next to me and Steve in front of us leaning against the counter with the cash register.
"Yo Steve catch this" I said throwing a pen I found on the counter at him. He didn't react in time so it hit him on the shoulder. He walked over to me very slowly trying to be intimidating. But let's just say it wasn't working very well. He kept on chuckling which made me laugh then he started tickling my sides.
"Soda help" I yelled "Nah you can handle him" "Be a good brother and help your sister out" you heard your best friend Maya say.
Maya Adams was your girl best friend ever since third grade. But she ran away last year and you haven't seen her since. Maya had dark brown hair and beautiful blue eyes. She was one of the most badass girl greasers you know. But she was a nice badass other than Sylvia. Stupid Sylvia the slut always ends up cheating on Dallas and it drives the gang insane. But for some reason he keeps going back to her.
"Maya!" you screamed as you basically ran through Steve making him fall back a little. You engulfed her in a hug.
"Where have been and why did you run off?" you asked very curiously. "Well you know my ex John Mars. Well anyway that Bastard told my Mother about how I got her arrested that one time and yeah. I went to New York but I missed you so much." "Well damn"
"What did I miss in the past year?" she asked "Me and Ryan broke up" I looked down and stared at my feet. "Awe what happened?" "Steve tell her I'm gonna go work on a car" I lied and walked in the back room.
I only said that so he'd know I just didn't want to talk about it. A couple minutes after you walked into the back room Soda came walking in. He gave you a hug and said
"I'm sorry Lilac you really didn't deserve what he did to you"
"Then why'd he do it, Sodapop"
"Lilac he was a stupid bastard. He only cared about himself and his blue mustang"
"That's what everyone says" you say
"Because it's true Lilac"
"Can we please stop talking about him" you say as the tears threaten to spill but you blinked them back as much as you could.
"I think they're done talking in there" Soda spoke up.
We walked back to where Steve and Maya were talking. Before anyone said anything else Steve went over to you and hugged you . You guessed he saw your glossy eyes.
"I love you babygirl"
"I love you too"
He pulled back from the hug you never wanted to end.
Ding. You heard the bell on the door ring signalling that a customer was here.
You go behind the counter and watch as two kids, that look around 12, walk over to the candy section. Of course what else do you expect from a couple 12 year olds. You notice that one of the kid looks familiar.
You try to think of how he looks familiar. Then it hits you it's Ryan's little cousin.
You wondered what Ryan told his family about what happened. He probably changed the story around. His family thinks he is a goody two shoes but he is the complete opposite.
The two kids walk up to the cash register. Ryan's cousin, Alex, gives you a dirty look and you say
"That'll be a dollar fifty"
He hand you the money and walks out.
"Did you see the way he looked at you" Maya states the obvious.
"It's...Ryan's cousin"

"Finally time to leave!" Steve cheers.
"Maya want to head to the home with us?" you ask
"Sure!" she says with a smile on her face.
We all walked out of the dx in sync.
Maya was walked next to me and Steve and Soda were walking next to each other behind us.
"What's it like dating your brother's best friend?" Maya asked
"I don't know. What was it like dating your best friends brother." I asked
Maya and Sodapop had a thing a couple years okay until Soda met Sandy and it went downhill from there.
Third person flashback
Sodapop Curtis walked home from school with this new girl he met named Sandy. He felt guilty because he was already dating Maya Adams but felt feelings for Sandy.
Soda knew he had to break things off with Maya and he dreaded it. He knew it would be hard but it had to happen. He walked Sandy home worrying about what Maya would say. He walked the rest of the way home alone and stuck in his thought. When he made it home he knew Maya would be there because it's his sister's best friend.
He walked in and went straight to his sister's room. Knock knock he knocked on the door.
"Whose there" his sister said
"Soda"
"Soda who" he heard Maya say and giggle
He didn't know what to say. He couldn't say boyfriend and then break up minutes later
"Just let me in pleaseee"
He heard the door unlocked. And open seeing Maya smile. It broke him knowing she wouldn't be smiling like that in a little bit.
"Maya can I talk to ya outside"
"Sure" she says hearing the sterness in his voice.
They walked downstairs and outside.
"We can't date anymore" he said looking down at his feet.

We were finally home. We walked through the gate and into the house like the good old days.
