Some people nodded at us when Luke lead us inside, I pretended not to notice, but apparently my newest group of friends was quiet popular.
Tom stuck to my side while Jess stuck to Luke’s. Honestly if they were a couple it’d be adorable. I smile at the thought. Luke fists pumps a couple of guys and hugs a few girls. Jess was the same way, as well as Tom, everyone says hi to me, welcoming me to ASU.
“This is literally the best ever.”
“You’ll fit in!” Tom says with a smile.
“I hope so.”
I notice that he doesn’t have tattoos and piercings like the rest of them, I feel like we’ll be close friends, I can only hope.
As we walk further into the house there are a few girls that look at me with such disgust it makes me uncomfortable. The same girls hug Jess.
“Ignore them, they’re really not worth it Mae.”
I probably looked anxious, “Thanks,” I whisper back to him.
He takes me away from the group and we head to the kitchen. He grabs me a Dr. Pepper because I don’t want to drink and then have to drive, even if it’s just one drink. I don’t need to be pulled over by the campus police on my first day here in college.
I hold the red solo cup in my hand and turn around to fast. I walk directly into someone. I look up and see a handsome guy. He has dark hair, and very dark green eyes. He’s looking down at his shirt, which I look at as well. I just spilled my drink all over him and his white tee.
“Oh my god. I’m so sorry!” I set my cup down. “I feel terrible,” I say in a rushed panicked tone.
He chuckles a little and grabs the closet towels, pressing it against his shirt. “It’s okay babe, accidents happen all the time. It’s a good thing I live here right?” He smiles down at me. “I can just go upstairs and change.” He says this with a wink.
I feel the heat rise to my cheeks when he does this, but I smile at him. “Well that is a perk I suppose.”
He looks down at me, nodding, just once. He looks me up and down a few times. I feel hot under his gaze.
Why is he looking at me like that?
I suddenly stick my hand out so I can shake his. “I’m Mae Daniels.”
“Cody Christian, everyone calls me Christian though, not a fan of my first name.”
Everyone goes by nicknames here.
“Well people just call me Mae.”
“The pleasure is all mine,” he smiles then he asks, “Are you a freshman?”
I simply just nod. “You know this place is a whole lot different than where I came from?” I say this over the loud music.
“Where are you from, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Not it’s okay. I’m from Sulphur Rock, few hours away.”
“Yeah you’re from a small area,” he laughs. “I’m sure you’ll fit in though.”
Christian fixes me another drink. I watched carefully to make sure he didn’t drop anything in there. I know that sounds bad, but you can never be too careful. We talk for a while totally ignoring the stain that was on his shirt.
Tom, Luke and a very drunk Jess come into the kitchen, which snaps me back into reality.
Jess leans forward, “Guys, I just knew these two would hit it off!” She giggles a little and Luke wraps an arm around her.
