I run away from Christian, like I run from a lot of things. I'm running away from him because he likes me? How does that even make sense.I don't know how far I get but I run directly into someone. I hit this person so hard that we both fall back on our butts, I end up scraping my hands up pretty good. I open my eyes and see Tom across from me.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry Tom! I didn't see where I was going."
He stands and hands out his hand and I take it thankfully, once I'm stood up I wipe myself off with a sigh.
"Are you ok?" He asks.
"Oh I'm perfectly fine."
He looks at me with a deep concern that I can't dissect just yet. "Why were you running away from something Mae?"
I want to tell him all kinds of things. But if I start to telling him things, like what's happening with me wasn't one of them.
I look at Tom, "I'm just running late to my next class." I can't believe I'm already lying to a friend.
He looks at me before running a hand through his hair. "Well, what's the next class?"
"It's creative writing."
"Cool, that's mine too. However you're going the wrong way." He chuckles a bit.
I was walking the opposite way that Tom was facing. "Well damnit," I mumble.
"It's okay. You're new here, so come on we don't want to be late for class."
We walk in silence. I like being around Tom, he makes me feel safe and comfortable. We walk in a silence that I don't mind. My phone bings a couple times. I pull out my iPhone and see Kiya and Christian's names.
Kiya: Hey Mae. Are you okay? What was the deal with the whole Christian thing??? Like are you okay? Call or text when you get a chance? Please.
Christian: Heyyy Mae. Did I say something wrong to you? Like can we talk!? Please message me back.
I let out a sigh, it's quiet and soft enough where I know Tom won't hear it. We reach the building and Tom holds the door open to the room. When I walk in I see the tattoos that match blue eyes. Niall turns and waves at us. "Are you okay?"
I nod, "Yeah I'm fine. Just wasn't expecting him to say that."
"Wait who said what?" Tom asks.
I take my seat and Tom sits next to me and I tell him what happened and that's why I ran into him. He seemed to understand why I was running but not the deeper reason as to why I was running.
The professor stars the lesson and what've for to expect by the end of the semester. When class is over I see Tom and Niall talking among themselves and I can't help but smile when I hear Niall talking about a raven haired girl from his last class. I decide to check my phone. There's 3 messages from Christian.
C: Mae I need to talk to you.
C: Please Mae I didn't mean to upset you by saying that. I was just saying you're all I can think about since the frat party.
C: I'm sorry, please call or text me back.
I was about to text back when Niall brought me back to reality. I look up at him and Tom, they both look a little worried. "What?" I ask.
"We were wondering if you wanted to come get a bite with us?" Niall asks.
"Yeah I'm starved. I'll drive?" I suggest.
"Shot gun!" Niall yells in his deep Irish accent.
I can't help but laugh a bit when Tom groans, getting in the back seat once we've walked to my car. "So where should we eat?" I ask.
