I waited in the cafeteria, where one of the nurses had said Linda would be. I sat at a table where I could see the door. I wondered how I would tell her that she needed to be sworn to secrecy.
"Hi." A meek voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Hi." I smiled back and, just like Ma had taught us to do, stood up.
She looked pleasantly surprised, "don't stand up for me." Putting her lunch on the table, the pretty blonde wondered, "What're you doing here, Officer Reagan? I assume it's business, right?" She took out a salad.
Figures she eats a salad. With a body like that, you'd have to! "Uh, Yeah. Yeah, it's business. Remember Willow Sanders?"
"Danny, I don't know her!" Linda stated, maybe a little frustrated. "She says I do, but I had never seen her until she came to the ER!"
"What?"
"I don't know why she thinks she knows me, but I don't know her! I had to lie to her so she would talk to me. I hate lying.... but, I feel sorry for her. So... I'm gonna help. Whaddaya want me to do?"
I smiled a little bit, she was so damn cute! "Uh, we need you to come down to the station and swear to secrecy."
"That's it? Why do I need to be sworn to secrecy?" Linda shook her blonde hair out of her eyes.
"Because Willow will only talk if you're with her. And because it violates some privacy shit, we need you to swear not to tell anyone what you here when the police question her."
"Of course, that makes sense." She nodded, chewing her chicken from the salad. "When do you want me to come down?"
"Um... when do you get off?"
"Five, supposedly."
"Okay, um, I'll come and pick you up. To, uh, to take you to the precinct."
Linda wiped her mouth, then took a sip of her water. "Okay. That works fine. So I'll see ya round five."
"Maybe before." I blushed a little bit. Didn't mean to stay that.
"Oh, I hope not!" Linda quickly corrected herself, "I mean, I hope I don't see you in here with an injury. Speaking of which, how's the arm?"
"A little sore, but it's okay."
"Yeah? Good, I'm glad." She smiled, showing her teeth. Man, she was gorgeous. "You still working?"
"Not today. Sarge wants me to stay home for a day before going back."
"Ah, well, that makes total sense. I woulda told you to stay home, too." Her face went red, obviously she didn't mean to say that. She stood up and started to walk. I followed her, watching her hips. "So...uh... five o'clock, right?"
"Huh?" I snapped back to attention, feeling a bit more relaxed when she smirked.
"Five o'clock you'll be here so I can go down to the station."
"Right."
"Your station?"
I nodded, watching her cross her arms over her chest. "No! Uh..." I looked away quickly, then said, "my dad's station."
"Okay. See you at five."
"Yeah. Bye, Linda."
"Bye, Danny." She waved, the said, "oh! Lemme walk you out." She walked me to the entrance of the hospital, chatting about something. I wasn't really paying attention, I was just basking in the hotness of Linda. "Well, here we are."
"Thanks. Bye."
"Bye."
