My alarm was going off.
At least, I think it was my alarm, but the tone was different. So was the rhythm. Instead of a deep Beep, Beep, Beep, it reminded me more of a heart monitor; Beep Beep, Beep Beep, Beep Beep.
My room also smelled oddly like antiseptic. Groaning, I blinked my eyes open and found that things were odd because I wasn't even in my room. I was in a hospital room. "What happened?" I grumbled.
I hated hospitals. They always smell funny and people tend to die in them.
"Thank god, Europa, we were so worried!" I was immediately hugged by Elena and Jeremy, who had looks of genuine concern on their faces.
I blinked and glanced around, "Yeah, but what happened?"
Next, Alaric came into view with a pretty brunette doctor. "Miss Gilbert, have you sustained extreme head trauma in the last few days or weeks?"
My eyebrows flew to my hairline as I considered my answer. Yes, I had, but I had Klaus' blood in my system when I went down. There is absolutely no way it was related to brain trauma. Slowly, I nodded my head. "Yes, I was in the car with a fairly reckless driver recently. Hit my head a few days back. Why?"
"Your symptoms are all showing signs of a severe concussion. You need to take it slow for the next few days. Limit time on technology, plenty of rest and water. Take Advil as needed for pain, but other than that you should be fine."
I smiled and nodded, waiting for her to leave the room before I shook my head. "Get me my phone, I need to make a call."
"No, you need to rest." Elena and Alaric told me as I sat up.
I huffed and crossed my arms. "Guys, think about it. If I had a concussion, it would have been healed when Klaus gave me his blood to fix my wrists which Stefan kindly snapped. This is definitely not a concussion, it's more likely related to my magical removal of compulsion."
Realization dawned on their features and they silently handed me my phone. I paused on my contacts and thought about who I should call. I could call Sophie or I could call Klaus.
Klaus could deal with it quicker.
Pressing the call button, I put my phone to my ear and waited. "Who are you calling?" Elena asked me curiously.
"Hello, Love, miss me already?" Klaus drawled on the other end.
I snorted and shook my head, "Something like that, I need help and I figured who better to ask than a thousand-year-old vampire?"
"What seems to be the problem?" He asked I could hear the concern barely hidden in his tone.
I pressed my hand to my head as a wave of pain hit me, "I don't know, I'm in the hospital right now with a concussion, but I shouldn't have one. Your blood should have healed me. The only thing I can think that happened would be getting the compulsion removed."
There was nothing, then faintly on his end, I heard a door slam, "I'm on my way. Do not leave the hospital without me."
"Yeah, but whats-" He hung up the phone. "wrong with me." I finished faintly, turning off my phone and giving it back to Elena.
"You called Klaus?"
I shrugged and closed my eyes tiredly, "Well, Bonnie didn't even know getting rid of compulsion was a thing, the witches I used are in New Orleans, and I'm pretty sure I'm dying so yeah, I called Klaus. He's a thousand years old and probably knows a thing or two. Besides, his mom was a witch."
