"Are you going to make me? Cause I'd love to see you try."
"Can you be more annoying?"
"It's my job to annoy you sweetheart, keep that in mind."
"I hate you."
"I hate you more."
I drowned out the banter of the two children from the room next door. Blake and Justine weren't exactly the best brother and sister.
I had called a worried Ethan earlier about everything and made him calm down. Blake had offered me food and the guest room as thanks for saving his life and I accepted. I mean, for one its food, and my house was in literally in the next town. So yes, I was totally spending the night in a stranger's house. I got off the bed and into the next room, suddenly wondering why Blake had wanted to die.
"No way my room is way cooler than yours!"
"No mine is!"
I intruded. "You two know I can hear you right?"
They abruptly terminated their argument.
Justine skipped over to me, reminding me of her real age. "Hey Aura. Just so you know, I just met you but you feel like the sibling I never had."
"Ouch I'm hurt." Blake sarcastically uttered.
"I'll leave you with this loser now. Good night."
I closed the door behind me, walked over to his side of the bed and sank into it. Impulsively, I dragged a hand through his hair, not even realizing what I was doing until he stopped me, his eyes widened. "Aura what are you doing?"
I blinked and let my hand fall. "The hell if I know.
He smiled. " I'll take that as a compliment."
I glared. "Why did you want to kill yourself?"
His smile fell.
Blake Giovanni Franco as I learnt his name was turned out to be to be a very open-minded person. He told me everything, half of which I didn't ask him to, but he did anyway.
From his lawyer of a father, to his deceased mother, his sister who annoyed the hell out of him but loved to death - by the way don't tell her that - to his best friend and then his girlfriend. Pain flashed in his eyes.
"She," He swallowed. "She broke up with me. Because I cheated on her."
A bitter laugh escaped his lips. "I did not just cheat. I cheated again. She just stood there, not moving, not crying because she never cries."
A tear rolled down his cheek. "She didn't say it in words but her action was loud and clear. She was done. It was over. My life was over. So I got drunk and I wanted to end it."
There was silence for a moment. Then, "I don't get it. How are you able to listen to me, attentively? I'm a stranger to you."
To be honest, I had no reply to that. All I could say was, "Do you feel weird telling me about it?"
His eyes shut. "Not really. You asked, I answered and that's that."
I raised a brow. "So you go about telling random people your life story if they ask?"
His eyes remained closed. "You saved my life. I don't think you're under the category of random person."
There was silence for another moment. "Why the fuck did you stop me?"
