It is going to be good day.
A very good day.
If anything, the fact that I didn't wake up to Fletch's annoying off key voice singing something to Adele was confirmation. I traipsed downstairs, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I always thought my hair looked messy after I woke up but Fletch opposed, saying that I was one of those people who woke up with their hair not looking like a bird's nest and he was insanely jealous of me for that.
Gosh, he was such a girl sometimes.
I was surprised to see Courtney, clad in my twin's favorite clothes, in the living room, laughing at something he said. There was something about they both sat there, looking perfect that I had to sit down and watch what would happen next.
One of my brightest ideas, I tell you. One of my very very bright ideas.
"Believe me," She said, her different coloured eyes twinkling. "I can beat you in a fight any day."
He scoffed. "Are you kidding? That'll never happen. Besides, don't you know it was hard work to get these babies?" He lifted his shirt to reveal his abs.
At that moment, I was very very proud of her because her reaction was to snort and say "Those babies are no match for my fighting skills."
He smirked. "I highly doubt that."
"Then let me prove it. Let's fight."
"I don't fight girls."
"Why? Because you're sexist?"
"No, I just don't."
"Oh, because you're afraid you'll lose to them. Don't worry, I understand."
He was working hard to keep the irritation out of his tone. "That's not why. I just don't."
"Because you're afraid of losing. I get it."
He groaned. "No. I don't fight girls because ..."
"You're afraid of losing?" She cut in, smiling sweetly.
"Oh fuck it. Let's fight." He stood up and dragged her to her feet. "I'll go easy on you."
She let out a smug "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
He aimed a punch at her face and she ducked, landing a tornado kick on his jaw. He stared at her in bewilderment as he held his jaw.
She still held that smile. "Oops. I may have forgotten to mention I have a black belt in karate. My bad."
"So, the way you fight in your Ferocious episodes are real?"
She nodded, cracking her knuckles. "Yes sir."
He posed, ready for another strike. "In that case, I'm not going easy on you this time."
She shrugged.
And so it went, my twin in a physical combat with the girl he liked, getting his ass beaten by her mad karate skills. At the end, he had to accept defeat.
"Okay okay, you win now stop breaking me!"
She obeyed. He got up from the floor and slumped into the couch. "Wow, you're amazing."
I chose that moment to let myself known. "I could've told you that."
Court sent me a smile while Fletch said "Can we keep her?"
I stared at them. "Depends on the choices you both make. Now we have to get to school."
"And that's my cue to leave. Bye." Fletch started walking away.
