honestly when i first started listening to this album i was a little underwhelmed. bags and closer to you were amazing singles had had given me high hopes. alewife and impossible didn't really connect with me at first for whatever reason, so i began to think that the singles would be the best thing to come out of this album. luckily, once closer to you hit it was great from there on out. from experimental upbeat songs like sofia, to dramatic 'ballads' like i wouldn't ask you, this album shows clairo playing with and expanding upon the sound that made her so popular. thematically, the album discusses not only clairo's experiences with love, but with loneliness, mental health and the overall pains of growing up. these themes are clearly portrayed by clario's simple yet effective writing style. this album isn't necessarily revolutionary or anything, but something about it is just so addictive. i could easily see myself flistening to this album nonstop for the rest of this month without getting tired of them. overall, immunity is a wonderful debut that showcases clairo at her best and gives her plenty of room to grow in the future.
