"It's about Gabe..."

Those were the words ringing in Kaycee's head when she dropped Gabe off after class that night, and continued to rattle her brain for nearly a week afterwards.

What could Sean have meant by that? And why did she actually care?

Maybe it was the sincere look in his eye when they were stopped in front of the door, a look that was always directed at people who weren't her. Being on the receiving end of something other than a glare made her head hurt, especially since he never told her what it was about.

The next time she met up with Gabe for lunch, she was so on edge that she found herself zoning out into scary thoughts of Gabe with other women much more beautiful and interesting than her. She didn't even think before blurting, "You're not seeing anyone else, are you?"

The question made him choke on his drink, nearly coughing up the water that had barely made it down his throat. It took him a moment before he gave her an incredulous look, shaking his head furiously. "What kind of question is that?"

Kaycee didn't answer, but instead waited for him to reply with something better than he just had. His reaction actually threw her off- she hadn't even really thought about him cheating, it just happened to fall out of her mouth first.

With an awkward laugh, he shook his head again. "Of course not, babe"

And that was that. The topic was dropped and their lunch continued on, Gabe slightly more nervous and Kaycee slightly more suspicious.

When Jake Kodish and Jojo Gomez announced a partner class they had collaborated on to take place at the end of the week, Kaycee was beyond excited to put all her thoughts to rest and let the dance take over. Dance was how she found Gabe in the first place; so maybe, by dancing with him again, she'd realize she's overreacting.

They arrived at class together right on time, not expecting any of their friends to be there but discovering most of them were. Tahani immediately ran up to them, followed by Josh Price, her "designated partner for the evening"

"You guys are later than normal. And Kaycee's way under-dressed" Tahani states, looking between the two of them. Josh chuckles at her bluntness.

Looking down at her oversized gray sweater and leggings, Kaycee shrugs. "I didn't feel the need to dress up too much."

Tahani's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Oh really? Because-"

"Hey guys." Comes the voice she'd been hearing in her head over and over again for the past week, pushing himself in between Josh and Tahani. He doesn't notice Kaycee for a second, but when he does he makes a dramatic effort to give her sweater a disapproving look. "Oh. Rice. Nice grandma sweater"
