I woke up early that morning so I could take a shower before school started. I let the warm water run onto my face. After that I brush my teeth and comb my (h/c) curls. I pass Elena's room and I see her writing in her diary. I'm the oldest out of the three of us but overall Elena takes care of us and protects us because me and Jeremy haven't handled our parents death well. I continue my way downstairs to grab breakfast and talk to Jenna.

"Good morning Jenna," I say politely.

"Hey (Y/n), what do you think Elena and Jeremy would want for breakfast?"

"Coffee... and maybe some toast." I replied.

     "Thank you," Jenna says.

"I'm going to leave early if you don't mind. I just want to walk and get some air before I have to sit in a classroom all day." I tell Jenna.

"That's fine sweetheart. Have a good first day!" She yells to me as I walk out the door.

Jenna is no mom, but she is a really good friend and she has help Elena and Jeremy a lot with everything that has happened. I wish my mom was still here though. She always knew what to say when I was upset and she was kind and a good hugger. A tear fell down my face as I walked and fell onto my shoe. I stared at it and thought about how stupid it is to cry. I shake it off and look up only to run right into a mans chest. I hit the ground and drop my phone and my backpack.

"I'm so so sorry. I wasn't paying attention," I say and then I look up at the stranger. He was tall and had black hair and crystal blue eyes.

"It's fine, just keep your head up next time... pumpkin," he said.

I gathered my stuff and look up to respond but the blue eyed stranger was already gone. I thought about the incident and continued walking until I got to school. First day of senior year and I already hate it. I see my only friend Jess waiting for me underneath a tree and I walk over to her.

"Hey Carrot," I say to her. That's been her nickname ever since we were little because of her red hair.

"Hey Roach," she says to me.

"Has anyone new moved into town recently? I saw this man this morning and he just seemed-"

"Stop. You are worrying again. Come on lighten up, it's our first day as seniors let's make the most of it," she tells me.

We walk through the halls towards my first period and pass another new face I've never seen before. The handsome male eyed me as I passed him and then quickly looked away seemingly shocked. I wonder if he knows the other boy that I saw this morning. The bell rings. I take my seat as class begins and prepare for a grueling long day.

School wasn't to bad but it wasn't too good either. I walked up stairs to my room and pulled out some paints and a canvas. Hours pass and Elena walks into my room asking for a charger.

"Here you go," I say as I give her the charger, "How was your first day?"
"It was good. Everyone kept asking if I was okay and I just had to say I'm fine thanks over and over and over."

"It will get better," I comfort her, "We just have to find what makes us happy and follow that."

"Yeah... yeah I know. Thank you for the charger," she says and then she turned on her heel and walked out.

I turned and looked out my window to see that the sun had almost set. The trees swayed softly in the wind. I looked back to my painting mess and thought about cleaning it up. My eyes turned to look out my window one last time not knowing that two blue eyes were staring into mine.
