Closing chapter
The next day was glorious in an odd way. I was finally able to be myself again instead of just a lost soul. It felt wonderful to be whole again. Damon and I snuck winks and smirks at each other throughout the day. I blushed almost every time Damon glanced at me and, Elena keeps teasing me somehow knowing why my face was rose colored.
We booked a flight back to Mystic falls for that afternoon. I packed my bags as the others did. Damon and me were alone in my room giving him the opportunity to come up from behind me and place delicate kisses down my neck. I leaned into him and giggled.
"Damon?" I asked. He hummed a response.
"Why did you choose to fall in love with me? You could've loved anyone on this earth but you chose me..." I question as he turned me to face him.
"Pumpkin, I didn't choose to fall in love with you. I wanted to get closer to your family because of the history it has with mine, but when I got to know you my heart changed," he spoke softly.
Damon continued, "You has something that I have never seen in my lifetime. You were beautiful and elegant. I knew something was special about you, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Now that I know you are a light wizard..." he said causing me to giggle again, "I know why I was drawn to you. I have a habit of finding the purest of hearts."
I wrapped my arms around him as he finished and let him peck my forehead. I knew that he would always be with me in that moment. Life, death, sickness, and health, he would be by my side.
"Damon... let's live forever," I spoke into his chest.
He chuckled, "Anything for you, Pumpkin."
[After the Flight]
Our flight had been delayed a bit but eventually we arrived back in Mystic Falls. The Salvatore brothers left us so that our 'girls trip' would look more believable. We were greeted by Alaric, Jenna, and Jeremy.
I sprinted into my brothers arms as we both wore bright smiles, "I missed you, Jer."
"I missed you too," he said relieved that I was back.
I pulled away from him and hugged Jenna and Alaric. Being back with my family was something I had truly missed without even knowing it. I looked back at Jeremy and flashed a bright smile.
Today, I have everything. I have an amazing brother who has gotten through his trauma, a kind sister who help save my life along side her boyfriend, a loving aunt who took me in at my worst and made me become a better person, and the most handsome, extraordinary man a girl could ask for. My life has come full circle and it is now complete.
[At Home]
I opened my window as the sun kissed the town that I've called home my whole life. The sky was an auburn color that sealed my arrival to Mystic Falls. The air smelled of sweet honey and pine trees and another glorious smell.
Sweet Mint and Bourbon.
I looked down below me to see my favorite Salvatore smirking at me. I giggled at him and made a kissing face, which he replicated soon after me.
After a few moments of long relaxed silence I spoke to him, "Damon Salvatore,"
"Yes (Y/n) Gilbert?" he said avoiding the P word.
I stared deep into his ocean eyes as I had done many times before. The blue orbs tackled mine with a mix of emotions, but one stood out clear and strong. Love.
"I have found my soulmate," I said with confidence and passion.
Damon was caught a little bit off guard and let what I had said sink in. He looked away from me so that he could concentrate on thought. Soulmate. His eyes met mine and I could tell he agreed with me.
We are meant for each other. I will save him and he will save me. We are two half's of the same being and after years of searching we finally have found each other.
The warm wind tickled my cheeks and blew both of our hair as we stare at each other from a distance.
"Damon, we are Everlasting."
