Although Elena denied Damon's existence and told me I was crazy, I told her about my dreams that I had been having. She slept in my room each night for the rest of the week and talked to me more than usual. It was nice. It felt like we were closer again, like before our parents death.
It was Friday afternoon and the bonfire was tonight. I promised Elena I would go since she thought I needed to get out of the house. I started my homework and daydreamed. I hadn't seen Damon since then and even though Elena said I was just confused I know in my heart that he was there. Even though I was scared of the monster he had become in my dreams I wanted to see him again. There was something about him that made me feel special and more outgoing. I closed my math book as I finished my homework and changed into a cute green long sleeve and jeans.
"Hey, Jer. Wanna walk together to this thing?" I said as I walked into his room.
He mumbled sure and followed me downstairs and out of the house like a lost puppy. As we walked I asked him not to drink or do anything bad tonight.
"Just try to have normal fun and not high fun," I giggled.
"Easy for you to say. Plus, you've never tried it so how would you know if it's bad?"
"Let's just say it's big sister intelligence,"
"Yeah, sure. Big sister intelligence my ass." Jeremy said earning him a punch in the arm.
[Later at the Bonfire]
Everyone was enjoying themselves tonight. Elena was with the new boy Stefan (who she was obviously going to date soon), Jer was mingling around and talking to Vicki Donovan, and me and Jess were dancing drunkly to the loud music.
"I'll be right back, (Y/n). My moms calling me," Jess yelled over the music.
I nodded and turned around to try and find someone else to talk to momentarily. My eyes met with Elena's as Stefan and her left the crowd to go walked across the bridge. I winked my eye at her and blush covered her face. When I turned back around Jess was coming over to me distress.
"My mom wants me to come home. She's pissed cause I didn't clean my room," she said sadly.
"You fucking idiot," I laughed. "I'll see you later," I said with a hug.
As Jess walked towards her car, I decided to take a break from dancing and take a walk on one of the trails. As I got farther away from the fire I became more at peace. The only light that touched this area was from the moon, and although it was dark, it was peaceful. I stopped and leaned against the tree admiring the night's beauty. The stars glittered the sky like thousands of diamonds and the moon touched my face with its soft light.
"It's beautiful isn't it."
I jumped and spun around with my fist ready to fight. My attacker grabbed my arms so that I could hurt them. My heart started pounding in my chest as I kicked causing the strong body that held my arms to fall down on top of me.
"Shit, Pumpkin," the voice mumbled as it's owner landed next to me.
"D-Damon?"
"The one and only," he said pulling himself up to face me.
"Oh my god. I'm so sorry. Are you okay? I didn't mean t-," he placed his finger over my lips silencing me. My mind melted a bit his touch.
"It's alright, Pumpkin. Calm down," he said and slowly released his finger from my lips. He lifted himself off me and pulled me up to sit next to him. My body felt strange now. It felt as if it was missing a piece now. I want the warmth from his hand to consume me again. We sat there in silence while my mind ran in circles.
"Damon... I have a confession to make," I mumbled.
A grin crossed his face in the dark light, "What is it,Pumpkin?"
I've been having nightmares... about you..." I said after a few minutes.
"I've been dreaming of you too, (Y/n)" he whispered.
"What the hell is happening to me?"
Damon didn't seem to hear me or maybe he just didn't want to. All he did was lift his head and move closer to me. Our noses where inches away from each other and my heartbeat accelerated again. His mouth began to open and I could tell his next words would be important, but before he could say anything a twig snapped near by. I could now hear two people talking as they got closer to our location.
"Meet me back here tomorrow at exactly 6:30. You won't regret it, Pumpkin," and with the blink of my eyes he was gone.
