The Parting of Ways (07/08/2019)

Disappear into the dark woods,
Evaporate like sweet dewdrops
On the wildflowers' petalled hoods;
Hold back your innocent teardrops.

Do not mourn the passage of time,
Do not lament our parting ways.
Nevermore place your hand in mine,
Or brush my hair from my face

For I will mourn on your behalf
The fact that you and I must part
So that you may move on and laugh
And banish darkness from your heart.

I cannot bear to see you sad
And thus your sadness I shall take
And even if I'm driven mad,
And even if my heart should break,

I'll not allow you to feel pain,
I'll not allow you to be hurt.
I may never see you again
But one day we will share the dirt.
