Many moons had passed since the battle between Stonehaven and Silverfalls. Many wolves were lost including the male alpha himself and his eldest son. Given that Artemis was the middle pup, she was now next to be the packs alpha over Stonehaven. Now the white shewolf sat at the edge of the territory, bathing by the lake. She lay in the shallow end her eyes watching some of her fur flowing in the clear water. She was a young adult wolf now, only months from taking on the title of alpha female, to do so however, she needed a mate. Sitting in thought, the gentle female sighed and growled under her breath.
"I wish to choose my own mate, not have mother will one for me." Her emerald eyes focused on the water as she heard her sister move nearby on shore. She hated water and was freaked at how Artemis loved it so.
"It's the law, like it or not you can't change it." Hestia spoke slowly, her tone gentle towards her older sister.
Artemis rolled her eyes and stood up from the water, her wet fur dripping water off her belly. "I'll change that when I'm alpha." She left the water and headed into the forest for the old temple. She needed to speak with her great grandfather, Amber.
The walk to the temple was far, but she had made it with ease and now stood before the entrance her eyes glowing in the dim light provided by crystals. The ruins surrounded her and she could hear a young guardian nearby in the training grounds. Following the sound she saw her grandfather training with a young teen wolf, her purple fur glowing in the light. This female was new to her, must have recently been let out of the denning area.
"Amber?" Her voice caused the two to pause, both turning to look at her. A fiery red wolf moved towards her, his ears perked forward and age clearly showed on his muzzle. "I wish to obtain more training."
A tension lay in the air as Amber moved forward to look at Artemis, his scarred muzzle inches from the young female. "Not today, I'm with Amethyst today, come see me in the morning."
Artemis gave a heavy sigh and nodded, heading out of the temple ruins and back to the forest. Walking along the border she could hear prey moving around her but she didn't wish to hunt. The scent of the pines whispered around her and the warm air flowed about. It was a wonderful early spring day, soon the cave would be filled with pups and whimpers of new life. A new scent filled her nose as she moved along in thought her eyes settling on a black male wolf drinking from a puddle nearby. He had a rather rough look to him, his black fur like shadows but a long scar ran over his back in threes, like a claw wound would. His blue eyes were stunning and almost entranced her as he lifted his head to gaze at her. His fur was thick, and his face scarred over from what seemed to be battle wounds. He held himself with pride and dominance, clearly a high ranked wolf. Snarling harshly, she backed away only to run her bum into a tree, her ears pinning back as she eyed him.
"Who are you?" Her voice was harsh as she snarled, her eyes focused on the male before her.
"I'm Hades, son of Brock. I am the Silverfalls alpha. Who are you?" His brow raised seeing her hostility when he had not even crossed the border. It amused him to see her cautious actions. She was gorgeous however, with flowing white fur and bright green eyes, she looked like an angel. Her ears tipped black, he smirked remembering another wolf with those markings. She must be the daughter of Monty himself, he thought.Artemis stepped forward tilting her head in curiosity. "You seem young to be an alpha?"
Shaking her head, she moved to the edge of the order looking at him no longer afraid. He had something about him she was being drawn to, and it felt strange. Pinning back her ears and furrowing her brows she sat down at the border. Her paws inches from crossing it.
"Yes, I'm young, but so are you." He looked at the female his eyes glinting in wonder at her. Closer now he could see the flecks of silver in her eyes and the faint grey markings on her head. She was stunning, and she seemed unlike others he'd met.
Artemis smiles and feels her heart race at seeing his hardened stare, "I'm Artemis, daughter of Monty." She knew he was of the enemy pack, but what if they didn't have to be enemies? Her mind was racing as she saw before her just another wolf, not some monster from her mothers stories."Artemis, what do you think you're doing?!"
