The sound of her mothers voice seemed to cause her heart to stop as she watched the black male turn away and run off. Her mothers eyes looked serious as Artemis turned around to face the alpha female. Pinning her black tipped ears back, she met her mother's gaze, not noticing her sister standing behind Ashanti. Within her mothers green eyes, she saw rage and worry all in the same flash, but her pelt was bristling in pure anger. She could ear her mothers sharp breathing and felt the hot breath of hers blowing from her nose onto her own.
"Did he hurt you?" Her voice was calm even though her stance was not. "What do you think you were doing? He's the son of our enemy!"
Artemis huffed and stood up straighter, her ears perking forward now as she started to push passed her mom and head back to the cave. "He didn't hurt me, mother. I was only speaking with him and he was on his side of the border, so no harm done." With a sway of her pearly white tassel, she was off towards the cave. Annoyed at her mother's action, she went straight into the alpha's den and lay in the nest lined with rabbit's fur, and closed her eyes. Why did the two packs have to be enemies? What if they just joined together and formed as one? These thoughts swirled in her mind as she felt herself starting to fall asleep, the smell of her mother growing stronger as she welcomed complete darkness.
The next morning was started off with the sounds of medic wolves running around frantic and a shewolf screaming out of pain due to the pups on the way. By the sounds of the voice, it was Artemis's aunt, Millie. Stirring in her nest, she opened her eyes to see the den empty, so deciding it was rude to not go be curious, she got up and wondered out. Her mother was there holding her sister's paw and muttering gentle words to her while Hestia was helping the medic wolves. Hestia was in training to be a medic, so of course she was needed in taking action of the birth before them. Artemis moved slowly towards the nursery and looked in to see several balls of wet moss lining around the she-wolf and the lead medic wolf, Rosemary, was helping ease the female and guide her into giving birth.
None of this was Artemis's kind of scene, so she ducked out of the entrance when no one was watching and headed back to the border she was at yesterday. Sure enough, there sat Hades drinking from their half of the lake. He looked up when she stepped into view and smiled at her, so Artemis moved closer and sat close to the edge of the border, her paws this time some what overlapping the scent markers.
"How are you today, Artemis?" The dark male spoke first as he moved closer to her and sat before her, his paws touching hers.
"I'm fine, just snuck away from someone giving birth." She couldn't help but notice his dark stare, his blue eyes full of color but not super bright. They stunned the female and entranced her with their beautiful stare. Feeling a rush of courage, she nuzzled his chest and smiled as she took in his deep smell. He smelt of pines and soil, such an earthy scent that wrapped around the white female. It took Hades a moment to realize what was happening, but he didn't complain. Instead, the brute male laid his large head over her neck protectively. Yes this was wrong, but now neither one of the supposed enemies cared.
